2009, European Society of Medical Oncology- JGH Supportive and Palliative Care Program
Accorded recognition for the second time as an ESMO designated centre for Integrated
Palliative Care and Oncology. Award presented in Berlin, Germany. The ESMO Designated
Centers of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care accreditation program is an incentive
program initiated in 2003. Cancer centres can receive special recognition for achieving a high
standard of integration of medical oncology and palliative care.
2009, Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association Award of Excellence. This award
recognized the outstanding national contribution of a CHPCA member who exemplifies
professional and/or personal commitment and achievement in the field of hospice palliative
care within Canada. To be a recipient of this award, the nominee must have made an impact
at the national level, and contributed to the mission of the CHPCA by enhancing the quality of
life for individuals and their loved ones who are facing a life threatening illness and
bereavement.

have made a significant contribution to their fellow citizens, their community, or to Canada.‟
