Cables & aCCessories

A passionate family
in-akustik has been devoting itself to good sound and perfect picture pleasure with heart and soul for more
than 30 years. Our passion is perfect image and sound quality. With our very own CD and DVD labels and, of
course, with cables. Made in Germany and always leading in price-performance ratio.
Uncompromising
Perfect sound and perfect pictures are a question of harmony. Without high quality cables, the
best electronics are worth nothing. Cables and connections are vulnerable to interference, which
can only be overcome with real Know-How.
The difficult physical phenomena, which occur when transporting signals, can only be kept under
control with the finest technical finesse and the best materials. That is in-akustik‘s true passion:
No voodoo, no dressing up, just work on the smallest of details using the best materials.
Recordings with the highest standards, perfect data storage media, CD- and DVD-players, amplifiers
and speakers are all precisely tuned to each other. However, on the way from electronics via
the amplifier to the speakers the dynamics are suppressed, high frequencies disappear, never to
be heard again, and in the end even the bass grumbles saplessly away.
Physics for the wonder of sound
When it is a matter of transporting and reproducing sound signals, there are complex physical
phenomena – or just “hot air“ – hiding right behind it. We at in-akustik have chosen to
stick to physics. Just as a musician masters his instrument, we master technology. Sophisticated
solutions, elaborate architecture and selected materials make sound with in-akustik
Reference a real experience.
COPPER
The transmission of acoustic signals is susceptible to many different types of interference: resistance, inductance,
capacitance, conductance of the insulation and skin-effect all have a negative influence on the sound. The conductor
material is also very significant. Because every contamination in the conductor material prevents the flow of current,
impairing the conductance and increasing the background noise. We therefore use only especially pure-grade, oxy-
gen-free copper (OFC) with a high conductance for Reference cables. For the LS-1602, even high-purity mgc copper
(medical grade copper) with a sensational conductance (102 %).
PE NETWORK JACKET
Every additional material used has negative influences on the sig-
nal transmission. Many cables have a subcoating between the
coat braid and the wires, made of PVC for instance, which has an
unfavorable impact on the electrical parameters. The wires in the
Reference cable, in contrast, are braided directly with the PE net-
work jacket using a sophisticated technique. The cables are there-
fore comprised of two materials only: copper and polyethylene.
The PE network jacket consists of monofilaments, which tightly
hold the wires together. This reduces micro-vibrations and facili-
tates the clean conversion of extreme dynamic peaks (Fig. 1).
DUO-PE II INSULATOR
Good insulating material reduces interference. Air is – in theory –
the best insulation, but is not practicable due to its lack of stability.
For the in-akustik Reference cables an insulation that combines
both benefits was developed. It is comprised of two layers of poly-
ethylene, an excellent insulator. The first layer is foamed with injected
air and encloses the wires. There is a solid second PE coating over
that, thereby lending the wire stability. The DUO-PE II insulation
prevents high capacities and eases the work of the amplifier (Fig. 2).

Even the best passive cable causes losses. In the active cable LS-A1, a separate electrical circuit
unit scans electrical impulses directly at the amplifier output and generates a “duplicate” in a
parallel auxiliary circuit. This generates an opposing-magnetic field, therefore compensating the
The Reference LS-1602 is a revolution. No cable has ever been made so intricately. With new,
sophisticated methods and the best materials available. The 48 (!) conductors are made from
selected, high-purity batches of mgc copper (medical grade copper). The exceptional purity can
only be determined by complicated special tests. The ramification of this leads to a mathematical
paradox: The conductivity amounts to 102 percent.*
MULTI-LAYER
The conductors are arranged in two layers
around a hollow tube waveguide in such a
way that the magnetic fields overlap and
neutralize each other (multi-layer). There has
never been a configuration like this before.
The low inductance allows for a fast and lin-
SOLID CONDUCTORS
On standard cables the many fine wires are
bundled, meaning the electrons can “jump”
from one conductor wire to another. Different
signals travel for different lengths of time,
fast impulses are “braked”. Each of the single
conductors in the LS-1602 on the contrary,
consists of one solid wire only. Consequently:
identical transit times, clear and powerful
contours (Fig. 2/3).
Filled with silica sand: 3
the polyethylene core, around
which the conductors are ar-
ranged into a waveguide, is
filled with silica sand in the
pre-assembled LS-1602. This
combination greatly reduces
micro-vibrations.
SKIN EffEKT
On a rising frequency, the signal increasingly
flows on the conductor surface: the higher
the frequency, the lower the effective cross-
section and the higher the resistance. The
48 conductors of the LS-1602 have an
immense surface at their disposal:
600,000 mm2 (two cables of three meters
each). The skin-effect is therefore considera-
The PE network jacket from our celestial LS-1602 has proven itself. So we thought: other models
should profit from this too – and therefore we developed the LS-1302. The LS-1302 is already
considered one of the best loudspeaker cables. In a test (“stereoplay” 10/2007), the successor
to the legendary LS-1202 was awarded a “highlight”. The wires are comprised of oxygen-free
copper (OFC). The 24 solid conductors surround a polyethylene tube carrier, which largely
consists of air, the best insulation material of all. Sound to be in awe of.
The wires are arranged around a polyethylene
material, air, in the center of the cable ensures
constant capacitance. The alternating configu-
fields overlap and neutralize each other. Low
series inductance signifies unhindered trans-
audio cable nf-a1
We have always been irritated by digital technology’s sonic weaknesses – and have now developed
a solution: the active audio cable NF-A1 with tubes. It transmits the entire sound spectrum,
the tubes convert sterile digital technology into harmonic sound. With noticeably more transparency
and wider and more spatial stage.
Nf-A1 electronics
- extremely high input resistance
- pleasant tube sound
- large bandwidth (160 kHz)
- large dynamic range (> 140 dB)
- class-A output stage
- optimally-operating output
- terminator resistance load in the RCA connector
Nf-1302*
- four solid conductors deliver harmonic transit times and precise reproduction,
even of the high frequencies (solid conductors see p. 11)
- strands of very pure OFC copper transmit exactly even the finest sound signals
- wafer-thin conductors for low capacitances
- DUO-PE II insulation and three PETS cores with air insulation against interfering
- the PE network jacket reduces micro-vibrations (see p. 5)
- GAP screening against eddy currents, for strength and dynamics
The device outputs are under a high load. The electronics in the active audio cable NF-A1
are exactly adapted to the power and resistance in the cable. They carefully scan the signal
at the source and ensure an output full of sound. The result: Reflections are absorbed, the
sound spectrum is extended.
STEREO: “Goodbye cable problems … this active cable outclasses the passive
GAP SHIELDING
The coaxial standard shieldings of conventional audio cables function like short-
circuited secondary circuits. Eddy currents could arise and alter the music signal. The
dynamics are diminished and the hi-fi system sounds flat. The newly-developed GAP
screening is not closed radially. It is slitted and therefore does not create unwanted
secondary circuits. Nor does the signal get overlaid by “reflected” induction currents.
All of the power and dynamics of the music remain intact.
The sound signals’ first steps are insecure. The playback devices only transmit weak impulses to
the amplifier. This makes them all the more vulnerable to interference of every sort. This is why a
number of new protective measures have been integrated into the in-akustik Reference audio
cables: solid copper (OF-CU), optimal insulation material (Duo-PE II), PE tubes filled with air, the
innovative GAP plug (see p. 30) and a precise configuration of all elements. But the signal conductors
take centre stage: the conductors are solid and very thin for uniform transit times. The
cables are securely packed on the outside: with PE network jacket against micro-vibrations.
So that small tones don’t trip up right at the start.
Digital technology is a wonderful thing: Just plug in and it works. Apparently free of loss.
Unfortunately, reality often shows us a different picture. Data losses triggered by jitter
has little in common with the original. The in-akustik Reference digital cable ensures that
voltage stabilizers
The newly-developed voltage stabilizers by in-akustik actively level out the usual voltage fluctuations
in the mains net. In a new procedure, they check the voltage against a “calibrated” reference
value and readjust it via complex electronics – up to an output of 3.6 kW (3600 Watt). Interference
such as high frequencies or DC transmission are filtered out by the voltage stabilizers. Interference
which is transferred from one main component to another is decoupled by the extended AC-A2016
version using additional filters which are finely tuned to the respective hardware. The extended
AC-A3016 version even allows the filters to be individually programmed.
aC-a3016
AC-A1016
- stabilizes the mains voltage
- generates extremely clean electricity
- filters the mains voltage on the input side
- suppresses DC components
- can withstand full 16 amperes/3600 Watt
(peak current > 100A)
- eight sockets
- shielded AC-A2502 main cable 3 m
- conforms to CE/RoHS/VDE
AC-A2016
- like the AC-A1016
- four separate decoupling filters with 2 sockets
each: 2 x high power 2 x audio – 2 x video –
2 x digital
- display showing for opening various
parameters, such as input/output voltage,
power etc.
AC-A3016
- like the AC-A1016
- four separate AC-A controllers (1 x 16 ampere +
3 x 4 ampere) provide even better decoupling of the
components
- display showing for opening various parameters,
such as input/output voltage, power etc.
- four freely-programmable decoupling filters in groups,
each with two sockets (= 8 sockets)
- maximum of 8 programmes can be saved. This means exact
adjustments and multiple use are possible in one chain.
The technology
The active current distributors from in-akustik work to a completely new
principle, the so-called Superimposed Modulator. In contrast to the standard
procedures, this technology remodulates the output voltage by adding
and subtracting. The modulator only has to compensate the deviation from
actual to target (Fig. 2) and does not have to build up the full amplitude
(Fig. 1). This makes the controller extremely fast, and it can cope with full
power of 3.6 kW.
- deliver clean and stable mains power
- improve the quality of picture and sound
- offer overvoltage protection (on impulse)
- overvoltage shutdown (upon long-lasting overvoltage)
- undervoltage shutdown (upon long-lasting undervoltage)
- protect the components connected
-> higher service life of the components
- stabilize the mains voltage at exactly 230 V +/– 0
- generate mains-synchronous A/C voltage
-> lower interference to other devices
- reduce the mains impedance considerably
-> faster current delivery capacity -> more dynamics
- filter the mains voltage
- correct and/or modulate the mains sinus
- suppress D/C components
- offer power buffer (40,000 uF)
- process peak currents of over 100 A (impulse)
- offer HF decoupling of the devices connected (AS-A2016/3016)
- offer microcontroller-actuated power management
- are comprised of solid full-metal housing
- are made in Germany
Mains cable | Power strips
Power cable | sockets
Power cables affect the sound more than you might think. The Reference power cables and power
strips filter unwanted interference out of the current – without introducing additional source
impedance. Use of the best materials and excellent workmanship guarantee maximum dynamics,
even for extreme loads. Complete screening and a special filter prevent radio frequencies from
being received which would turn the cable into an aerial (e. g. for mobile phones). Solid line bars
in the power strips distribute the power homogeneously to all outlets.
vacuum metallized aluminium foil screening.
AC-S1
The AC-S1 high end power socket has got solid pinch cocks
and big gold plated contacts with double contact pressure.
This reduces resistance and increases dynamics.
