Follow these simple steps. :: Sit as upright as you can in a hard chair (i.e., kitchen chair, not a lay-z-boy). :: Place the grip of the paddle on the chair, the blade in front of your face. :: Hold the paddle at the throat (where the shaft transitions to the blade). :: If your paddle is the proper length, you should be looking directly at the bottom of your hand. :: NOTE: 56” & 58” lengths fit 80% of all whitewater canoeists.
