Camshaft timing - Belt tightening tool<br />

Position belt preload tool 7107-1460-049 1 over the timing belt idler<br />

adjustment ear 2.<br />

Insert the torque wrench in the suitable tool so that the A axis of<br />

the key fig. 25 is at 90° to the B axis of the tool in fig. 24.<br />

Tighten in clockwise direction at 20 Nm.<br />

Maintaining the belt tension, tighten nut 3 with another torque<br />

wrench at 40 Nm, after having remounted the drive pulley.<br />

Rotate the crankshaft a few times and check that the tension is as<br />

described above.<br />

The check must be carried out with the appropriate Nippon Denso<br />

tension measuring instrument (halfway along the longest section of<br />

the belt), the value for a cold engine must be 15±2 Kg.<br />

Valve timing check<br />

A = Intake valve<br />

B = Exhaust valve<br />

Rotate the engine in the normal direction of rotation until the No. 1<br />

piston (flywheel side) approaches TDC- compression stroke<br />

Check the balance of intake and exhaust valves A and B placing the<br />

two micrometers testers on the valve collars.<br />
