To have a student teaching placement, all<br />

<strong>Fellows</strong> must meet the following criteria.<br />

Request for Student <strong>Teaching</strong><br />

• A minimum grade point average of 2.5 in overall scholastic work; a “C” or better<br />

in all courses in the major; and a “C” or better in all professional education courses<br />

(including TF courses). These averages must be met by the first day of classes of the<br />

semester before student teaching.<br />

• The Fellow must have no academic, disciplinary, or social probations.<br />

• A Request for Student <strong>Teaching</strong> Placement Form must be completed by each<br />

student. The form must be submitted to Dr. Janet Powell, Director of Teacher<br />

Education the semester prior to student teaching.<br />

You must complete the application for<br />

licensure and pay a fee to request your North<br />

Carolina <strong>Teaching</strong> License.<br />

Application for Licensure<br />

• Your application should be submitted during the semester in which you student<br />

teach.<br />

• The application should be submitted to the Licensure Clerk in the Dean’s Office.<br />

DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS<br />

<strong>Fellows</strong> must sign a Certificate of Receipt of Scholarship Funds<br />

for the semester. Failure to sign the Certificate of Receipt will<br />

result in funds being withheld for succeeding semester(s) until<br />

the Certificate of Funds is signed.<br />

• <strong>Fellows</strong> who are male must provide proof of registration as required under the<br />

Military Selective Service Act. Appropriate certification forms are to be signed at the<br />

same time as the Certificate of Receipt. Forms shall be filed with the NC <strong>Teaching</strong><br />

<strong>Fellows</strong> Office. 8<br />
