Additional Activities Related to Rich Man and Lazarus
for Adults and Families with Older Children
Take a Short-Term Mission Trip
One way to reach out to needy people is to participate in a short-term mission trip—in your
country or another one. Going on a mission trip can be a life-transforming experience and a
direct way to be faithful to God with your time, money, and other resources. His “true riches”
await you as you seek to obey His call.
You might partner with people from your small group or faith community, or explore options
to do this with friends or family members. People throughout the world need practical help,
encouragement, and love.
Tips on getting started:
• Review your calendar, personal vacation time, and other parameters and determine
how much time you could devote to the trip. Be sure to allot time for passports and/or
visas if you will be going out of country.
• Talk with a pastor, church denomination headquarters, and/or mission organizations
to explore short-term project opportunities. You might also contact mission sending
organizations.
• Pursue a ministry opportunity you are passionate about. For example, if you enjoy
working with your hands or building, what about choosing a project that focuses
on new construction or repairing small homes or a church If a people group or
geographical area is special to you, factor these into your thinking.
