Alderman Fiona Woolf CBE is the current Lord Mayor of London - and as the 686th Lord Mayor
is only the second woman to hold the role since its inception in 1189.
Fiona is an advocate of diversity in the City, and recently said:
‘I would like to use my Mayoralty to encourage people to put more energy into the diversity
agenda. I am talking about everybody regardless of their race, sexuality, gender or disability.
It is about making sure that our talent pool is wide enough and deep enough because if we all
came from the same background where would new ideas come from’
As well as the ceremonial aspects of the Lord Mayor’s role which date back to the Middle Ages,
Fiona Woolf has advised over 28 governments and the World Bank on privatisation. This blend
of the traditional and the modern make her one of the most interesting people you are ever
likely to meet!
