Herb Ritts began his<br />
photographic career<br />
in the late 1970s<br />
and quickly gained a<br />
reputation as a master<br />
of art and commercial<br />
photography. Herb<br />
produced portraits and<br />
editorial fashion work<br />
for Vogue, Vanity Fair,<br />
Rolling Stone and<br />
Interview. He was<br />
sought out by leading<br />
fashion designers and<br />
created successful advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein, Chanel, Donna Karan, Giorgio Armani<br />
and Valentino among others.<br />
Herb Ritts was drawn to clean lines and strong forms. His images often challenged<br />
conventional notions of gender and race. Social history and fantasy were both captured and<br />
created by his memorable photographs of notable people in film, fashion, music, politics<br />
and society.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Herb Ritts Foundation continues Herb’s longstanding support of HIV/AIDS charities by<br />
funding organisations supporting those affected by HIV and AIDS. <strong>The</strong> Foundation also<br />
promotes Herb’s great passion for photography by assisting institutions with educational<br />
programmes advancing the art of photography.<br />
