<strong>Clare</strong> <strong>County</strong> Council, the Heritage Council and <strong>Clare</strong> Heritage Forum wish to thank all the individuals<br />

and community groups who are taking part and facilitating events during Heritage Week in <strong>Clare</strong> in<br />

2013. Particularly to acknowledge the great work done by individuals and groups with an interest in<br />

all aspects of Heritage in the <strong>County</strong>.<br />

Heritage Week is co-ordinated by the Heritage Council with support from the Department of Arts,<br />

Heritage & the Gaeltacht & Fáilte Ireland. It is part of European Heritage Days, a joint initiative of the<br />

Council of Europe & the European Union.<br />

The aim of Heritage Week is to build awareness of our built, natural & cultural heritage thereby<br />

encouraging its conservation and preservation.<br />

families split by emigration, the changing role of women and the effects on a family of<br />

This year the National Heritage Week<br />

Photography Competition invites you to<br />

‘Discover the Past. Build the Future’. To enter<br />

all you need to do is to submit an image<br />

which links past, present and future from<br />

your own point of view. Then provide a brief<br />

caption for the photo explaining the link.<br />

Criteria: We are looking for creative representations of<br />

how our heritage shapes our present and our futures.<br />

features of the natural environment or practices of the<br />

past which have shaped who you are today. You may<br />

also wish to broaden your search beyond your personal<br />

scope and into the realm of your community. What<br />

image could you capture that would encapsulate local<br />

pride in a shared heritage This is part of a broader<br />

initiative to host a conversation about ‘My Heritage’<br />

during National Heritage Week so there are no right or<br />

wrong answers, just add your voice to the conversation!<br />

The closing date for the competition is the 31st of<br />
