Nie sposób wymienić
wszystkich atrakcji, znajdujących
się na niemal
czterech kilometrach
Piotrkowskiej.
Na początek ciekawy układ regularnego
ośmiobocznego placu Wolności,
gdzie polecamy zwiedzenie jedynego
w Polsce Muzeum Kanału „Dętka”. To
owalny fragment sieci kanalizacyjnej,
mieszczący niegdyś ok. 300 m 3 wody,
zaprojektowany wraz z całą siecią przez
słynnego Williama Lindleya. Zrobiony
z czerwonej, wypalanej cegły przetrwał
do dziś w znakomitym stanie. Postęp
technologiczny sprawił, że nie był już
dłużej potrzebny do użycia, dzięki czemu
mógł stać się pierwszym w Polsce
kanałem otwartym dla publiczności
Na drugim końcu Piotrkowskiej
znajduje się wyjątkowe
Centralne Muzeum Włókiennictwa
(Biała Fabryka) z przebogatą
kolekcją współczesnej
tkaniny artystycznej.
Muzeum cyklicznie organizuje prestiżową
imprezę wystawienniczą – Międzynarodowe
Triennale Tkaniny. Tuż obok znajduje
się Skansen Łódzkiej Architektury Drewnianej,
prezentujący obiekty architektoniczne
XIX-wiecznej Łodzi.

It is impossible to mention all the
attractions spreading along 4 km of
ul. Piotrkowska. At the bottom of the
street there is octagonally shaped Plac
Wolnosci (Freedom Square) where you
are welcome to visit Detka Canal Museum,
the only in Poland of this type.
This underground oval water tank with
a capacity of about 300 m³ was built according
to the specification of William
Heerlein Lindley in order to flush the
city sewerage system. Made of specially-fired
red brick, has survived till today
in excellent condition. Due to advances
in technology, it has lost its functional
properties and has become the first
water supply tunnel to be opened to the
public in Poland.
Further up Piotrkowska there is Central
Museum of the Textile (White Factory),
exhibiting amazing historic and
contemporary textiles. The museum
is the organiser of International
Triernnale of the Tapestry.

Zabytkowe kamienice przy Placu
Wolności mieszczą Muzeum Archeologiczne
i Etnograficzne, gromadzące eksponaty
związane z prehistorią regionu,
kulturą ludową i etnografią ziemi łódzkiej,
oraz Muzeum Farmacji im. prof. J.
Muszyńskiego, gdzie z pieczołowitością
odtworzono wnętrze apteki z przełomu
XIX i XX wieku, oficynę sanitatis, recepturę
czy bielarnię oraz zabytkowe meble
apteczne wraz z aparaturą i farmakopeą.
Historic tenement houses in the
square seat Museum of Archaeology and
Ethnography conducting archeological
research on prehistoric and early historic
sites and culture and ethnography of the
Lodz Region. Another place worth
visiting is Proffessor’s Jan Muszynski’s
Museum of Pharmacy,
where officine sanitatis, recipe,
bleachery rooms as well as
antique pharmacy furniture
have been restored to original
splendour. You can also
admire pharmacy sttorage
vessels and implements,
therapeutic agents for
the production of various
forms of drugs. There is
also a large collection of
pharmacy and laboratory
scales and mortar
cast iron and porcelain,
as well as a set
of pharmacopoeia.
Within the museum there is Skansen Lodzkiej
Architektury Drewnianej (an Open air
Museum of the Lodz Wooden Architecture)
which presents objects of architecture
typical of end of the 19th century and the
beginning of the 20th century.
