The aim <strong>of</strong> this course is to give the students a theoretical and practical knowledge in the use <strong>of</strong><br />

instruments for analysis. The content <strong>of</strong> this course; technical information, glassware, chemicals,<br />

Optical methods: spectrophotometry, spectr<strong>of</strong>luorimetry, atomic absorption spectrometry, atomic<br />

emission spectrometry, refractometry, polarimetry, Chromatographic methods: thin layer<br />

chromatography (TLC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC),<br />

Electroanalytical methods: potentiometry, voltammetry, polarography, conductometry,<br />

amperometry Other spectroscopic methods: nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR),<br />

electron spin resonance Spectroscopy (ESR), mass spectroscopy (MS), Thermal analysis: thermal<br />

gravimetry (TG), differantial thermal analysis (DTA), differantial scanning calorimetry (DSC) and,<br />

(ECZ702) COMPUTER USAGE AND CALCULATION IN ANALYTICAL<br />

CHEMISTRY (T)<br />

HOUR/WEEK :1, ECTS:1<br />

The aim <strong>of</strong> this course is to teach the calculations used in analytical chemistry by supporting the<br />

computer. The content <strong>of</strong> this course; Analytical model designs depending on parameters such as<br />

temperature, pressure, pH, wavelength, absorbance, fluorescence and chromatographic separation<br />

capacity in analytical methods, regression analysis, algorithm preparation and its utilization for<br />

calibration, calculation <strong>of</strong> selectivity and sensitivity in calibration, transformation methods for signals<br />

used in analysis. The usage <strong>of</strong> computer programmes and calculations in application <strong>of</strong> analytical<br />

methods, basic mathematical calculations, purity (or impurity) calculations in analysis, analytical<br />

laboratory equipments and their calibrations.<br />

(ECZ703) PLANT NARCOTICS AND PSYCHOTROPS (T)<br />

HOUR/WEEK: 1, ECTS: 1<br />

Definition <strong>of</strong> narcotic and psychotropic substances <strong>of</strong> plant origin will be described. Classification,<br />

source, use and active plant-originated substances with narcotics and psychotropic properties will be<br />

given. Further information will be mentioned about identification and analysis <strong>of</strong> these active<br />

substances. In the society, addiction problems <strong>of</strong> narcotic and psychotropic substances will also be<br />

discussed.<br />
