The mission <strong>of</strong> the Pharmaceutical Chemistry IV course is to introduce students to the chemical<br />

formula, general physico-chemical and structural properties, synthesis, chemistry <strong>of</strong> metabolites<br />

structure-activity relationships <strong>of</strong> pharmaceutical agent. Topics include gastrointestinal system drugs,<br />

intestinal drugs, emetics and anti-emetics, diagnostic drugs, respiratory system drugs, oral<br />

antidiabetics, antihypoglycaemics, hormones, steroid hormones, ovarian- sex hormones, androgensex<br />

hormones, thyroid hormones and anti-thryroid compounds<br />

(ECZ487) PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY III PRACTICAL (P)<br />

The aim <strong>of</strong> Pharmaceutical Chemistry III Practical course is to give a general knowledge about<br />

analysis <strong>of</strong> functional groups <strong>of</strong> organic substance and biologically important compounds using<br />

2. Instrumental analysis methods, a. Ultraviolet and visible spectroscopy, b. Infrared spectroscopy<br />

and interpretation techniques, c. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and interpretation<br />

techniques, d. Mass Spectroscopy and interpretation techniques, 3. Instrumental analysis methods<br />

synthesis reactions. Topics include the synthesis <strong>of</strong> 1. Iod<strong>of</strong>orm, 2. Acetanilide, 3. p-Nitro acetanilide,<br />

4. Ethyl p-aminobenzoate, 5. 2,4-Dihydroxyacetophenone, 6. Phenothiazine, 7. Benzoic acid, 8.<br />

Benzoin, 9. Benzyl, 10. Benzylic acid.<br />

Powder technology, solid dosage forms and their technology (mixing <strong>of</strong> powders, mixed powders and<br />

packages, granules and effervescent granules, pilules and sachets. Hard and s<strong>of</strong>t gelatin capsules and<br />
