Historical evolution <strong>of</strong> pharmacy is taught in history methodology; especially Turkish <strong>Pharmacy</strong><br />

History from the Seljuk Anatolia and history <strong>of</strong> pharmaceutical industry and publications are taught.<br />

Conceptions <strong>of</strong> deontology and ethics, patient rights and their applications in the World and Turkey<br />

are taught to students.<br />

(ECZ381) PHARMACOGNOSY I (T)<br />

HOUR /WEEK :2, ECTS :3<br />

This course deals with the general features, classification, identification, estimation, isolation,<br />

biological activity and indication <strong>of</strong> some crude drugs including carbohydrates (monosaccharides,<br />

oligosaccharides, polysaccharides), cardiac glycosides, saponins, cyanogenic glycosides,<br />

glucosinolates, anthraquinones have been described.<br />

(ECZ382) PHARMACOGNOSY II (T)<br />

HOUR/WEEK :2, ECTS :2<br />

This course deals with the general features, classification, identification, estimation, isolation, activity<br />

and indication <strong>of</strong> some crude drugs including flavonoids, anthocyanins, phenolic glycosides,<br />

coumarins, tannins, lipids, terpenoids and volatile oils have been described.<br />

In this laboratory, microscopically analysis, pharmacopeial analysis, isolation methods qualitative and<br />

quantitative estimation <strong>of</strong> some drugs including, carbohydrates (monosaccharides, oligosaccharides,<br />

polysaccharides), cardiac glycosides, saponins, cyanogenic glycosides, glucosinolates, anthraquinones<br />

have been done.<br />

(ECZ384) PHARMACOGNOSY II PRACTICE (R)<br />

HOUR / WEEK :4, ECTS:4<br />

The mission <strong>of</strong> the Pharmaceutical Chemistry I course is to introduce students to the chemical<br />

formula, general physico-chemical and structural properties, synthesis, chemistry <strong>of</strong> metabolites<br />

structure-activity relationships <strong>of</strong> pharmaceutical agent. Topics include introduction to<br />

pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry, a. Drug active material design and development methods,<br />

b. Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (QSAR), chemistry <strong>of</strong> drug metabolism, Local and<br />

general anesthetics, Sedative and Hypnotic drugs, Tranquillizer drugs, Neuroleptic drugs,
