Jump Start Your Revenue Growth
Your company has already cut costs and survived
what, for most firms, has been a brutal economic
time. The economy is recovering, but your revenue
growth has not been fast enough. Now, to increase
profits and enterprise value; and to insure a strong,
enduring market position, it is imperative that you
grow your top line revenue quickly and efficiently.
You need to increase unit sales and/or prices on a
tight budget and a fast schedule.
In this program, Professor Benson P. Shapiro will
help you:
• Identify the best targets of opportunity
• Avoid brutal head-to-head price competition
• Price effectively to improve profitability without
sacrificing unit volume
• Improve the focus, effectiveness, and efficiency
of your total go-to-market activities including
e-commerce and traditional approaches
• Sell better and faster
The program will consist of two fast-paced case
discussions. The case studies involve real firms.
The first will focus on e-commerce, and the
second on sales management. These are two
of the primary ways in which you attract and
develop customer relationships. Our discussions
will center on generating the highest impact and
fastest response for each dollar that you spend
on reaching prospects and customers.
The program will also include two short lectures
as well as some time for open discussion. The
material is based on a continuing research program
on high-profit, high-performance, “lean”
marketing and sales approaches.
At the end of the program, you will receive a set
of readings to increase the take-home value of
your attendance.
Please note: Additional registration fee is required
for this course and space is limited. Sign up on the
registration form.
Benson P. Shapiro is a well-known authority on marketing strategy and
sales management with particular interests in pricing, product line planning, and
Outcome Driven Sales
11:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Rowena Crosbie, Tero International, Des Moines, IA
While every sales situation is unique,
the basic skills to handle a successful
outcome do not change. As we handle
situations with others, we need to
remember that we must not only worry
about what we are trying to achieve, but
also seek to understand what the other
person’s interests are. If we just stick to
our position, we risk arriving at a solution that not only does
not satisfy either person’s interests, but also results in mistrust.
The Outcome Driving Selling keynote looks at the four steps to
effective outcomes (with emphasis on the first two steps):
Thought Leader Session
+ Preserving the Relationship and Clarifying Goals
+ Identify Underlying Interests
(the difference between positions and interests)
+ Generating Options
+ Evaluation and Decision Making
It is not only important to do these four steps. They must be
done in the right order. When sales training and influence or
negotiation skills training are studied side-by-side, we quickly
discover that sales training equips sales professionals with
important skills that are appropriate to use in Step 3 of the
negotiation process. When they are used too early, sales are
reduced to discussions around price and volume, relationships
suffer and neither party receives the full benefit that the steps
to a win/win negotiation deliver. With these steps, the customer
will often arrive at your solution without having to use closing
strategies, unique selling propositions, and lengthy discussions
around features and benefits. This is how the top sales professionals
do it and it can be learned.
The Key to the Future of Professional
Pest Management is Ethical Service
Dr. Roger Gold, Texas A&M University,
College Station, TX
Over the last 25 years, the public’s perception of the
pest management industry has improved dramatically.
Pest management professionals have evolved from
exterminators through pest control operators, and
resulting in a name that represents the professional
training and standards that are the hallmark of our
industry. Ethical service is another piece of the puzzle
that is critical to the long term success of our industry.
Business: Social Media 101
Lee Gientke, Web Mix Marketing, Provo, UT
Thousands of businesses have set up social media
social media to-do box” but the overwhelming number
of businesses aren’t using these tools to their full
Your Monitoring Traps
Dr. Mohammed El Damir,
Adams Pest Control, Hamel, MN
In the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach, a
and then monitor to detect the presence of the pest.
Monitoring is important because it provides early
detection of the pest, works 24/7, as well as identifies
best possible time and strategy to manage the
pest. Attendees will leave this session with a better
Passing the Torch: 5 Keys for
Successful Transitions
10:00 AM – 11:15 PM
Mark Green, Ph.D., Family Business Consulting, Salem, OR
Family business leaders continue to face the
challenging tasks of tackling current demographic
trends, global business and economic
realities, ever changing views of career paths
and interests within the company, and the
struggle to balance work and personal life all
contribute to not only the stresses of work,
but the intergenerational tension as well.
For a family-run business to thrive, it is imperative that a harmonious
balance is found between the needs of the business and the needs of
the family members within the organization. Solutions to common
challenges can be found in non-family owned businesses as well.
In this presentation, Dr. Green will discuss 5 important keys
to family business success in order to maintain competitive in
today’s challenging economic marketplace. The audience will
hear latest findings and best practices that will help owners and
company leaders address the changing generational relationships,
non-family relationships and the collective needs of the company.
Post-Application Inspections:
Using Insecticides as a Monitoring
Tool in Food Processing Plants
Dr. Stephen Kells, University of Minnesota, St. Paul, MN
Residual insecticides are used to control pests in your
accounts, but did you realize that these applications
can be an effective monitoring tool in complex situations
After a treatment of insecticide, post-application
inspections of the area can help you pinpoint source
population of insects and enable you to propose other
services to further reduce pest populations in the area.
Understanding an insect’s ability to move after insecticide
exposure helps determine how you can integrate
this inspection procedure into your services and
improve the value of your accounts.
