Dear Friends,
This year we are going back to our roots for the 22nd Annual Energy
Fair: The People’s Energy Fair. The need for resilience and sustainability
continues today and we’re proud to continually provide you with the
resources to take steps toward sustainability.
The Energy Fair wouldn’t be the event it is without our sponsors and
exhibitors. Thank you to all of our exhibitors and sponsors for providing
products and solutions for people looking to save some money and
Mother Earth. Please make sure to support the people who support The
Energy Fair.
Volunteers rock! Thank you to each and every volunteer who gives a few
hours or days to the cause. The Energy Fair would not happen without
your generosity and hard work. Also thanks to the United Way for
helping us with volunteer registration this year.
Thank you to our presenters for sharing their expertise. The Energy Fair
continues to be the premier energy and sustainable living education
event thanks to our presenters. Make sure to take in a workshop and
learn something new.
There are some exciting features to the 2011 Energy Fair that you won’t
want to miss:
• Once again we will celebrate Local Food Friday on June 17. Joining a
CSA, shopping at your local farmer’s market, and growing your own
garden continue to be great ways to provide healthy, sustainable food
for your family that also adds great value to our local economy. We are
excited to have as our Keynote Speaker, Will Allen of Growing Power
at 1:00 p.m. on the Main Stage.
• Gasoline has reached record high prices as I write this letter. The
Gulf of Mexico continues to be affected by the huge oil spill last year.
Now more than ever, we need alternatives to costly fossil fuels. Check
out our extended workshop from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on electric
vehicles and solar charging; reserve your seat online or at the MREA
Marketplace. Also, don’t miss our Keynote Speaker on Saturday, June
18, Chris Paine, writer and director of Who Killed the Electric Car
speak about the comeback of electric vehicles.
• Join us for our MREA membership meeting on Sunday morning at
9:00 a.m. on the Main Stage. Find out what the MREA has been up to
the last year and find out where we are headed. If you are not already
a member, rise up and join the MREA in our mission to promote
renewable energy and sustainable living education.
