CENTRAL WISCONSIN RESILIENCY
PROJECT PANEL DISCUSSION
We are pleased to continue our tradition of
promoting successful community projects and
groups from central Wisconsin. On Sunday, June
19, we will present a keynote panel discussion
on the formation and implementation of the
Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project.
Using principles from the Natural Step
framework, AmeriCorps members in the
Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project work with
volunteers, local government staff, and area
non-profit organizations to address a range of
sustainability issues. The Project’s mission is to
identify and foster cooperative efforts in central
Wisconsin aimed at creating an environmentally,
socially, and economically secure future. The
Project will accomplish this mission through
community development focused on food, energy,
ecosystems, waste, and water.
In 2010-2011, the Central Wisconsin Resiliency
Project will engage 29 AmeriCorps members in
sustainability work through a mix of full-time,
part-time and seasonal positions. AmeriCorps
provides a vehicle for identifying, training, and
deploying community organizers, educators, and
leaders who can marshal volunteers and mobilize
community assets to accomplish seemingly
impossible tasks.
The Project’s headquarters are located at the
former Jackson School, but the majority of
AmeriCorps members serve at placement
sites across central Wisconsin, including local
governments and area non-profits.
Invited panelists include: Erin Yudchitz, Program
Director, Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project;
Mayor Andrew Halverson, Mayor Stevens Point;
Patty Drier, Portage County Executive; Eric
Olson, Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project
Executive Committee Member; Ellie Jackson,
MREA Outreach Specialist and Central
Wisconsin Resiliency Project Member.
