Recent highlights of our work include: • Representing Citigroup Inc. in successfully overturning, after only 10 months of preparation, an $8 billion lawsuit by the London-based private equity firm Terra Firma which claimed that they were defrauded in connection with the purchase of the music company EMI in 2007. • Representing the U.S. Department of Energy in its $1.4 billion loan arrangement for Nissan North America, Inc. and its $465 million loan arrangement for Tesla Motors, Inc., both of which were part of the $25 billion Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing loan program, meant to promote the development of fuel-efficient vehicles in the U.S. • Representing AbitibiBowater, Inc. in one of the largest bankruptcies of the year after U.S. lenders refused to accept a proposed debt restructuring of more than $8 billion of pre-petition indebtedness. Paul, Weiss obtained approval for the newsprint giant’s chapter 11 plan of reorganization, clearing the way for the company to emerge from bankruptcy and move forward with its restructuring. • Representing Edwards Lifesciences in its $74 million trial victory over Medtronic Corevalve, whose ReValving system infringed upon the transcatheter heart valve patent held by Edwards, the global leader in the science of heart valves. • Advising Time Warner Inc. in the closing of a $4 billion three-year revolving credit facility with a group of lenders and Bank of America, N.A., as agent, which replaced its existing revolving credit facility.
