Instructor Training<br />

Not only do we provide skills training across a broad range<br />

of subjects, we also provide instructor training so you can<br />

qualify to teach in your chosen subject.<br />

Combined <strong>co</strong>urse of L3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector<br />

(PTTLS) & Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement.<br />

This is a five day <strong>co</strong>urse and is an excellent starting point for anyone who<br />

wishes to teach and assess classroom learning.<br />

PTTLS & L3 Award in the Delivery of Conflict Management Training<br />

The Conflict Management Trainer will enable you to deliver <strong>co</strong>nflict<br />

management at levels 2 & 3. An appropriate teaching qualification<br />

equivalent to PTTLS must have been achieved prior to <strong>co</strong>mmencing the<br />

<strong>co</strong>nflict management trainer qualification.<br />

First Aid instructor <strong>co</strong>urse<br />

We offer 3 variations ranging from the full instructor <strong>co</strong>urse which<br />

<strong>co</strong>nsists of everything that a First Aid instructor will need or reduced<br />

<strong>co</strong>mbinations of qualifications if you have already achieved some of the<br />

required <strong>co</strong>mponents. See ELCAS page for further details.<br />

Security Instructor Course<br />

Everything that you need to be able to deliver SIA Door Supervisor or<br />

security guarding <strong>co</strong>urses including a tutor pack and a 12 month licence<br />

agreement to deliver the L2 RDS physical intervention package.<br />

Please be aware that the SIA require trainers to have 3 years front line<br />

experience in either guarding or working in premises that sell al<strong>co</strong>hol.<br />

This can include NAAFI’s and venues outside the UK.<br />

RTITB Counterbalance/Reach Forklift Instructor <strong>co</strong>urse.<br />

Enables the candidate to train and test to be<strong>co</strong>me a fully qualified RTITB<br />

instructor. Basic, Re-Registration and Assimilation <strong>co</strong>urses are<br />

available, <strong>co</strong>urse duration ranging from 3 to 12 days<br />

the Armed Forces<br />

ELC NO 4188<br />

RDS Trainers specialise in level 3 <strong>co</strong>urses that are designed to prepare<br />

you for employment outside the services. All of our trainers are former<br />

Armed Forces, Police or HM Customs & Excise. We understand and have<br />

made the transition from a regimented working life to a more informal and<br />

sometimes alien working environment. We will give you guidance and<br />

support before, during and after your training.<br />

Courses are priced as residential and non residential as individuals who live locally will be<br />

required to prepare work on an evening but not wish to stay in the hotel. The hotels used<br />

by RDS provide a training venue, dinner, bed and breakfast as an inclusive package.<br />

Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection<br />

14 days <strong>co</strong>nsecutive <strong>co</strong>urse. You must hold<br />

a valid First Aid at Work certificate or First<br />

Person on Scene to be able to attend the<br />

<strong>co</strong>urse. If you do not hold either of these<br />

qualifications then you must attend for<br />

an additional 3 days prior to the start of<br />

the <strong>co</strong>urse to achieve the First Aid at Work<br />

certificate. Courses are held in Hull and<br />

Colwyn Bay in Wales.<br />

All of the trainers are occupationally <strong>co</strong>mpetent and able<br />

to answer questions about real issues that you may have<br />

<strong>co</strong>ncerns about. Training is relaxed and informal. Do not<br />

worry about the multiple choice examination as we will stick<br />

with you until you successfully <strong>co</strong>mplete the <strong>co</strong>urse.<br />

L3 First Aid at Work<br />

Courses are available in First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work<br />

and Paediatric First Aid. The award in First Aid at Work is a qualification<br />

aimed at those who wish to be<strong>co</strong>me a First Aider in the workplace for the<br />

purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.<br />

L2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling<br />

This <strong>co</strong>urse is intended as an introduction to moving and handling<br />

activities for those starting work, returning to work or needing specific<br />

training in manual handling as well as being a suitable qualification for<br />

refresher training. Persons gaining this qualification will understand that<br />

moving and handling must be carried out <strong>co</strong>rrectly and re<strong>co</strong>gnise its<br />

importance in ensuring a safer working environment.<br />

L2 Award in Fire Safety Awareness/Safety<br />

The Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness is a qualification aimed<br />

at all staff, particularly new starters in any workplace, where a basic<br />

understanding of fire safety is required The Level 2 is for fire wardens or<br />

others with responsibilities during an evacuation.<br />

L2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace<br />

Persons gaining this qualification will know that Health and Safety is the<br />

responsibility of everyone within a business, including <strong>co</strong>ntractors, visitors<br />

and suppliers. Syllabus areas are regarded by the Health and Safety<br />

Executive as being important to maintaining safe working procedures in<br />

the workplace.

Level 3 Award in Licensed Hospitality<br />

This is a two week <strong>co</strong>urse designed for<br />

Work Certificate which lasts for a period of 3<br />

years, along with a wallet-sized plastic card<br />

detailing their qualifications.<br />

L2 Award for Personal Licence Holders<br />

The aim of the HABC PLH qualification is to<br />

provide candidates with essential knowledge<br />

of the legal framework surrounding the sale of<br />

al<strong>co</strong>hol in England and Wales.<br />

preparing to work in the industry. Persons<br />

gaining this qualification will know that food<br />

safety is the responsibility of everyone involved<br />

in the storage, preparation, <strong>co</strong>oking, service<br />

and handling of food. The subjects <strong>co</strong>vered are<br />

regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as<br />

being important to ensure good practice and<br />

the production of safe food.<br />

L2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace<br />

This Award in Health and Safety in the<br />

Workplace is a qualification intended for<br />

candidates working in any environment and<br />

those who are returning to work or starting<br />

work for the first time. Persons gaining this<br />

qualification will know that Health and Safety<br />

is the responsibility of everyone within a<br />

business, including <strong>co</strong>ntractors, visitors and<br />

suppliers. Syllabus areas are regarded by the<br />

Health and Safety Executive as being important<br />

to maintaining safe working procedures in the<br />

workplace.<br />

L1 Award in Conflict Management for<br />

Licensed Premises Staff<br />

The <strong>co</strong>urse is certificated by the BIIAB. It is<br />

designed to assist workers deal with frustrated<br />

or angry customers who may or may not be<br />

under the influence of<br />

al<strong>co</strong>hol or drugs.<br />

L1 Award in Responsible Retailing of Al<strong>co</strong>hol<br />

This <strong>co</strong>urse is for anyone who sells al<strong>co</strong>hol.<br />

The <strong>co</strong>urse is certification by the BIIAB and is<br />

re<strong>co</strong>mmended for anyone working in public<br />

houses, off licences, restaurants or any other<br />

outlets selling al<strong>co</strong>hol.<br />

L2 Award in Food Safety in Catering<br />

This Award in Food Safety in Catering is a<br />

qualification intended for candidates<br />

working in catering and those who are<br />

Logistics Courses<br />

RDS Training has recently launched a series of forklift <strong>co</strong>urses<br />

which will be followed with a full range of logistics training.<br />

We have our own forklift training facility which is <strong>co</strong>nveniently<br />

located and we are really excited about the diversity of<br />

<strong>co</strong>urses we will be offering in the near future.<br />

Novice Counterbalance and/or Reach<br />

Suitable for a candidate who has little or no experience in operating a<br />

fork lift truck to gain their licence. Candidates can train on either truck or<br />

both over a 5-7 day period. On <strong>co</strong>mpletion of the <strong>co</strong>urse candidates will<br />

have all of the basic knowledge & training to operate a fork lift truck.<br />

Refresher Counterbalance and Reach<br />

Enables a candidate who already holds a certificate of training to update<br />

their qualification. Training can be <strong>co</strong>mpleted on any truck the candidate<br />

holds a licence for and has duration of 1 day per vehicle. Once the<br />

refresher training has been <strong>co</strong>mpleted candidates will be re-registered<br />

on to the NORS database and their qualification up dated.<br />

Pedestrian Operated Pallet Truck<br />

Suitable for candidates who wish to operate a powered pallet truck.<br />

Training can be carried out on a low level or a stacker truck.<br />

Duration depending on previous operating ability of the machine if any -<br />

usual duration of about a day.<br />

Experienced Operator Training<br />

Suitable for a candidate who has had previous experience and has<br />

no proof of training and testing. Candidates must have a reasonable<br />

amount of experience to qualify i.e. years not weeks. Training can be<br />

carried out on either <strong>co</strong>unterbalance or reach truck and usually has a 2-3<br />

day duration depending on ability.<br />

RTITB Counterbalance/Reach Forklift Instructor <strong>co</strong>urse.<br />

Enables the candidate to train and test to be<strong>co</strong>me a fully qualified RTITB<br />

instructor. Basic, Re-Registration and Assimilation <strong>co</strong>urses are available,<br />

<strong>co</strong>urse duration ranging from 3 to 12 days depending on <strong>co</strong>urse type.<br />

Candidates must have a valid certificate of fork lift training taken in the<br />

12 months prior to the instructor <strong>co</strong>urse start date to qualify for the basic<br />

<strong>co</strong>urse. Trainers who hold a current certificate of training may be able to<br />

attend for less days. Please discuss with the office. NORS registration is<br />

Level 2 Award in Door Supervision<br />

If you want to work in a licensed environment such as pubs, clubs, anywhere that<br />

al<strong>co</strong>hol is <strong>co</strong>nsumed you will need this qualification and an SIA licence in Door<br />

Supervision.<br />

Level 2 Up skilling Door Supervisor Qualification<br />

This qualification will be<strong>co</strong>me mandatory for anyone who holds a non QCF door<br />

supervisor qualification as of 4th February 2013. The <strong>co</strong>urse <strong>co</strong>nsists of Counter<br />

Terrorism, First Aid Awareness, Dealing with Children and Young People and Level<br />

2 Physical Intervention in the Security Industry. The <strong>co</strong>urse is part self study and one<br />

day in the classroom to practice the physical intervention skills.<br />

L2 Award in CCTV Operations (Public Surveillance)<br />

This award is an SIA requirement for all operatives who monitor the public either in<br />

a public area such as a shopping area and operatives supplied on <strong>co</strong>ntract by a<br />

security <strong>co</strong>mpany to another <strong>co</strong>mpany.<br />

L2 Award in Physical Intervention for the Private Security Industry<br />

This award is a non pain based set of skills to disengage from an aggressor or<br />

restrict an individual whilst manoeuvring them. All applicants must have achieved a<br />

re<strong>co</strong>gnised <strong>co</strong>nflict management level 2 qualification prior to attending this <strong>co</strong>urse.<br />

L3 Award for Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training in the Private Security<br />

Industry<br />

This <strong>co</strong>urse enables you to deliver the RDS level 2 physical intervention skills.<br />

You must already hold a suitable teaching qualification (minimum PTTLS) and an<br />

approved <strong>co</strong>nflict management trainer qualification ( C&G 1886 or Edexcel <strong>co</strong>nflict<br />

management trainer) One day <strong>co</strong>nversion <strong>co</strong>urses from other approved packages<br />

are also available for those who already hold the L3 Award for Deliverers of Physical<br />

Intervention Training qualification.<br />

L3 Award in the Delivery of Conflict Management Training<br />

The Conflict Management Trainer will enable you to deliver <strong>co</strong>nflict management at<br />

levels 2 & 3. An appropriate teaching qualification equivalent to PTTLS must have<br />

PTTLS and Conflict Management Trainer<br />

Award in the Delivery of Conflict Management Training <strong>co</strong>urse is a 5 day <strong>co</strong>urse.<br />

Ideal for individuals wanting to teach security qualifications or <strong>co</strong>nflict management<br />

to any sector.<br />

Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection – 14 days <strong>co</strong>nsecutive <strong>co</strong>urse.<br />

You must hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate or First Person on Scene to be able<br />
