ST. ROBERT’S SPORTS PARTICIPATION PERMISSION SLIP 2009 - 2010
Thank you for your participation in the 2009 – 2010 St. Robert’s Sports program.
Permission slips AND checks are to be returned to John Marty ~ St. Robert’s
Athletics by Thursday, October 22nd by noon.
1. The number of teams that St. Robert’s will sponsor in the Peninsula Parish and
School League (PPSL) is predicated on the number of student athletes that
participate.
2. Participants will be evaluated and placed on teams best suited to their ability.
3. Once permission slips are completed and submitted, children are obligated to
participate in the entire program and season, all practices and games.
Exceptions to this policy are illness or academic probation.
4. WE WILL NOT REFUND PARTICIPATION FEES FOR ANY REASON.
Parents are responsible to provide on-time transportation (drop-off and pick-up to all practices and games).
Please read your St. Robert’s School Sports Program Handbook which can be found at
www.saintroberts.org (click on Parish Athletics) for additional information about St. Robert’s Athletics.
NEW ~ NEW ~ NEW This does NOT apply to Training (Grades 4 th and 5 th ) ~ Participants for each
sport that requires an Evaluation/Tryout will BE asked to attend one of two clinics held two days prior to the
evaluations/tryouts. The attendance to at least one of the clinics is "MANDATORY." The evaluators will be
asked to attend both clinics. It is recommended that each participant attend both clinics, but only one clinic
is "mandatory." If the participant's parent(s) or legal guardian chooses not to participate in both clinics then
the 'mandatory clinic' is chosen by the parent(s) or legal guardian of the participant. All coaches of that
particular sport are encouraged to be at both clinics. The coaches will be and are encouraged to give their
input into the participants they prospectively will coach. Coaches will NOT be allowed at the
evaluations/tryouts. On the third day a one hour evaluation/try-out will take place. Each evaluator will fill
out an evaluation form. Teams and numbers per team will be determined at that time. Coaches will then be
assigned and will notify players of their teams. The Athletic Board will always have a representative at the
evaluations/tryouts. Any person that has association to a participant will be asked to leave the evaluation
area. All this is contingent upon the St. Robert's Athletic Board having the signups on time, the total
number of participants determined and number of teams being determined (NOT numbers of participants
on each team).
$75.00 Participation Fee
$50.00 Facility Fee (per sport per participant)
Staples, Envelopes, and Paper Cuts
We have made every attempt to make the St. Robert’s Participation Permission Slip as user friendly as possible.
Over the past 4 years we have taken all of your feedback and incorporated it into the form we have today. We
have one “due date.” We have a very efficient team on the Athletic Board so we feel that giving you ample time to
get the slip, sign it and send it back to us with your check/payment is key. Check the box that pertains to your
child and sport. If you have more than one child participating in St. Robert’s Athletics then fill out one form for
each of your children. The amount of checks you write is up to you. All we are looking for is the PROPER
TOTAL. The slip purposely asks for the grade your child is “Currently” in, because at school year-end we need to
give the League roster & team totals for Baseball and Volleyball for the following school year. The top half is for
your records. I can not tell you how many times we get asked questions that can be answered by the upper portion
of the Participation Permission Slip. Like, “WHEN ARE SIGN-UPS DUE!”
……..And if you could kindly help us. When was the last time you lost something I know our children are prone
to lose things, but multiple envelopes, staples, paperclips or scotch tape will not cure this. A simple paper clip will
do. I know…..I don’t know YOUR child and their habits for losing things….but I do know how much blood I
can spare from staple wounds and paper cuts.
The Athletic Board Thanks YOU!
