(3) WHERE A MOBILITY AID CANNOT BE CARRIED <strong>IN</strong> THE<br />

PASSENGER CAB<strong>IN</strong>, ALITALIA AIRL<strong>IN</strong>ES WILL PROVIDE<br />

ASSISTANCE <strong>IN</strong> DISASSEMBL<strong>IN</strong>G AND PACKAG<strong>IN</strong>G THE AID,<br />

UNPACK<strong>IN</strong>G AND REASSEMBL<strong>IN</strong>G THE AID, AND RETURN<strong>IN</strong>G<br />

THE AID PROMPTLY ON ARRIVAL AT THE PERSON'S<br />

DEST<strong>IN</strong>ATION, ALL WITHOUT CHARGE.<br />

(4) IF A MOBILITY AID IS DAMAGED OR LOST, ALITALIA<br />

AIRL<strong>IN</strong>ES WILL IMMEDIATELY PROVIDE A SUITABLE<br />

TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT WITHOUT CHARGE. IF A<br />

DAMAGED AID CAN BE REPAIRED, ALITALIA WILL<br />

ARRANGE, AT ITS EXPENSE, FOR THE PROMPT AND<br />

ADEQUATE REPAIR OF THE AID AND RETURN IT TO THE<br />

PASSENGER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IF A DAMAGED AID<br />

CANNOT BE REPAIRED PROMPTLY AND ADEQUATELY, OR IS<br />

LOST AND CANNOT BE LOCATED WITH<strong>IN</strong> 96 HOURS AFTER<br />

THE PASSENGER'S ARRIVAL, ALITALIA AIRL<strong>IN</strong>ES WILL,<br />

AT ITS DISCRETION, REPLACE IT WITH AN IDENTICAL<br />

ONE SATISFACTORY TO THE PASSENGER, OR REIMBURSE<br />

THE PASSENGER FOR THE FULL REPLACEMENT COST OF THE<br />

AID.<br />

(5) IF A TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT AID HAS BEEN PROVIDED,<br />

A PASSENGER SHALL CONT<strong>IN</strong>UE TO HAVE THE USE OF THAT<br />

AID:<br />

(A) UNTIL THE TIME THE PASSENGER'S (REPAIRED) AID<br />

IS RETURNED, OR<br />

(B) UNTIL A REASONABLE PERIOD FOR THE REPLACEMENT<br />

OF THE AID HAS ELAPSED, WHERE ALITALIA<br />

AIRL<strong>IN</strong>ES HAS TAKEN STEPS TO, AT ITS<br />

DISCRETION, REPLACE THE AID OR REIMBURSE THE<br />

PASSENGER.<br />

(6) TERM<strong>IN</strong>ALS ON WHEELCHAIRS WITH NON-SPILLABLE<br />

BATTERIES MUST BE DISCONNECTED AND TAPED.<br />

(7) WHEELCHAIRS WITH SPILLABLE WET CELL BATTERIES ARE<br />

ACCEPTED AT NO CHARGE TO THE PASSENGER AS FOLLOWS:<br />

(A) ON B747/DC10/B767 AIRCRAFT, WHEN LOADED <strong>IN</strong> A<br />

LD3 BAGGAGE CONTA<strong>IN</strong>ER <strong>IN</strong> AN UPRIGHT POSITION;<br />

BATTERIES MUST BE DISCONNECTED AT BOTH<br />

TERM<strong>IN</strong>ALS, CAPPED TO PREVENT SHORT CIRCUITS,<br />

AND MUST BE SECURED TO THE WHEELCHAIR WITH<br />

NON-CONDUCTIVE MATERIAL.<br />

(B) ON NARROW-BODY AIRCRAFT SUCH AS A320/B737 AND<br />

PROPELLER AIRCRAFT, <strong>IN</strong> A NON-UPRIGHT POSITION<br />

PROVIDED THE BATTERY IS REMOVED AND STORED <strong>IN</strong><br />

AN APPROVED BATTERY CONTA<strong>IN</strong>ER; CONTA<strong>IN</strong>ERS ARE<br />

AVAILABLE WITHOUT CHARGE FROM ALITALIA<br />

AIRL<strong>IN</strong>ES WITH 48 HOURS NOTICE.<br />

TRANSPORT ANY PASSENGER OR FOR ITS REMOVAL OF ANY<br />

PASSENGER <strong>IN</strong> ACCORDANCE WITH THIS <strong>RULE</strong>, HOWEVER, AT THE<br />

REQUEST OF THE PASSENGER, A REFUND WILL BE ISSUED <strong>IN</strong><br />
