Northern Classic 2010 started off with heavy rains on Thursday afternoon into the evening. We can’t thank our ground crew
enough Eric Martin, Dennis Cole, Skip Hofman & Rodger Odom, for their wonderful dedication to “THE SHOW MUST GO
ON”. You guys ROCK!
Friday after canceling setups due to the mud pit in the arena, everyone had a little extra time to visit and relax. Saturday
morning we awoke to a beautiful sunny day and our first day of competition. The sun continued to shine all weekend long.
We had some smokin times ran by ponies and horses throughout the weekend so all that rain must have been good for the
ground. We were able to run setups each afternoon after the show so everyone needing their times had a chance to get
them.
Sierra Madrigal and Nathan Rowles ran neck n neck all weekend for the AAA+ division championship, with Nathan nudging her out by just a few points. I’m sure Sierra
was okay with that since she completed her hall of fame on Monday afternoon with her poles I run. Sierra also ran a 6.930 Keyhole on Saturday which would have broken
the Bolado Park State Show record.
Carole Lindstrom showed up the youngsters by taking the AA championship by 6 points. Way to go Carole!
We had great food in the snack bar provided by the “Jew Jew Bean Cafe” and kept me from having to cook dinner after working all day.
CGA would like to thank John Durden of Durden Engineering for donating the water truck even though we didn’t need it much after Thursdays rain. Also a Big Thank You
to Pringle Tractor and Rodger Odom for donating the tractors for us to use.
A big thank you to district’s 1 & 2 for hosting Northern Classic so we could have a show. District 32’s Robert Frates was a huge help with setting up the arenas, judging
and anything else we needed help with. Robert even got “Misses Vice President” Debbie to come and help in the arena as well as Shelly Njirich. Now that we have these
ladies broken in we are sure we will see them helping out at State.
To all the judges, time writers, gate swingers, arena workers, etc. we couldn’t put on a show like this without all of your help so a huge THANK YOU to all of you. CGA
really has some wonderful families that come out to support this GREAT organization.
