The weather was perfect, in the mid 70’s with a light breeze blowing all day. There weren’t any new arena records set this time. Amber Castle-Keane was back from her honeymoon in New York with new hubby - Jamie. Welcome back to you both. Nina Ketcherside rode her young mare - Definitely Dreamin in all the events for the first time and did just great. Welcome back to Sidney Zullo on Toby, Kelly Croffoot on Sam and Selena Gayden on Snickers. As always we must thank those folks who worked this show. Working in the booth as Announcers/Time Writers: Jody Abel, Renee Birdsong, Leslie Stevens, Michael Craven, Ken Johnson, Charlie Moore, and Jeff Morlet. Our Judges for the day were: Jody Abel, Teresa Barosso, Charlie Moore, and Lea deMontigny. Gate Swingers were: Kasey Hales, Sherl Lewis, Deanna Pedley, and Audra Green. Setting up and taking down the obstacles and helping in the arena were: Sienna Kelly, Chris Peterson, Marissa Stevens, Kasey Hales, Danny Ross, Kim Vollmer, Amidala Green, and Ken Johnson. THANK YOU to all these folks for helping out so the riders could ride. Many of these people are also riders and they still helped run the show. In addition to Judging, Time Writing & Announcing, Jody Abel was our Ribbon/ Coupon Captain. Thank you Jody. Only Worker Coupons are eligible for the “Free Show” drawing and most of the time there are enough coupons for two Free Shows. That was the case and the hard working winners of a Free Show worth $31.50 were: Kasey Hales and Jody Abel!!! Congratulations to you both. That seemed to be a popular decision and everyone that needed times was really happy to get another chance. The next show was our 2 Day Buckle Series with three piece custom silver buckles from Silverado Silversmiths in Apple Valley. This was our first “night” show of the 2009- 2010 season and we caught a few folks by surprise. They turned out at the usual 8:00a.m. sign up time except there wasn’t anyone there. Hmmmmm. It’s been up on the Latenightriders.org website in highlighted yellow for two weeks. There were only 39 riders on Sat. June 5th and the ground was once again - very good. There were a total of 3 Supreme rides and 16 AAA+ rides. Anna Rose on Lil Brat broke her own Single Stake Pony Record set on May 8th. The new Pony Single Stake Record is 9.316. Kayla Mitchell on Bar De Pavo set a new Horse Arena Record in Barrels with a 17.987. Congratulations to Kayla and Anna. Those records might stand for a while. The Late Night Riders would like to welcome new riders in District 5 and welcome back some old friends that we haven’t seen in a while. We are so happy to see Valerie Constancio on No Wanna Smoke DePot ( not too sure about the horse’s name.....) and we don’t know how long it’s been since we’ve seen Lucy Dickinson riding Mr. Lee. Gosh it’s like old home week with Jessica Martin bringing in two horses to try to reclaim her arena records. Welcome back to John Kresha on Radar. Welcome to new riders Katie Perryman on Lady, Debra Wolley on Biszoni-Phoenix, Amber Woolever on Angel and Jeff Thompson on Orchid. When we arrived to set up the show we discovered that the lock on the equipment end of our container was jammed. It seems that someone tried to break in and succeeded in jamming the lock so bad that we couldn’t get the container open to get out the equipment. After several different ideas, Luke Brymer arrived with a torch and soon had the container opened and the metal straightened out so we could re-lock it with a new padlock. Thank you Luke. A big thank you to those folks working in the booth as Announcers/Time Writers: Leslie Stevens, Teresa Barosso, Mike Barosso, Timmi Lemen (so great to see you!),

But of course we were all tired from the night before and some of us had to do paperwork when we got home so we were a little bleary eyed and tired by Sunday morning. The weather still cooperated and it was a beautiful day for a show. 28 riders came back for day 2 of the Silverado Buckle Series. The hot runs all happened on Sat. because while we had quite a few AAA+ rides there weren’t any Supreme and no more arena records broken on Sunday. As always a big Thank You to: Announcers/Time Writers: Charlie Moore, Teresa Rose, Trent Haak, and Jonathan Slaton. Our Judges for the day were: Jody Abel, Arlene Tuji, Judy Sharp, Wendy Hagerman and Lea deMontigny. On the Gate were: Will Melrose, Ken Johnson, and Don Preston. Looks like we found a couple of new “swingers” for District 5. Thank You. You can get the latest information on District 5 shows by checking the Late Night Riders website at: www.latenightriders.org Everyone is welcome to attend the District 5 Club meetings on the third Sunday of each month at Perko’s in the Elverta Crossing Shopping Center on Watt Ave. Meetings start around 6:30 but come early and have dinner with us or just hang out and catch up on the gossip and what is happening at District 5. Don’t forget that we will be running night shows until October but all two day shows will be a night show on Sat. and a day show on Sunday.
