Dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>spection of <strong>in</strong>stallation by Railway Eng<strong>in</strong>eer the contractor shall make<br />
such tests as would be necessary to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Railway<br />
that the work as completed by him is <strong>in</strong> accordance with the specifications of the<br />
contract. The contractor shall provide such <strong>in</strong>struments and apparatus as may be<br />
necessary for mak<strong>in</strong>g these tests.<br />
19. QUANTUM OF WORK AND VARIATION IN QUANTITIES<br />
19.1 The quantities of various items given <strong>in</strong> the schedules for the works to be<br />
executed are only approximate and are only for the guidance of the contractor. As<br />
far as possible, they have been assessed correctly but are likely to vary dur<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
execution of the work.<br />
19.2 Individuals NS items <strong>in</strong> contracts shall be operated with variation of plus or m<strong>in</strong>us<br />
25% and payment would be made as per the agreement rate.<br />
19.4 The limit for vary<strong>in</strong>g quantities for m<strong>in</strong>or value items shall be 100% (as aga<strong>in</strong>st<br />
25% prescribed for other items). A m<strong>in</strong>or value item for this purpose is def<strong>in</strong>ed as<br />
an item whose orig<strong>in</strong>al agreement value is less than 1% of the total orig<strong>in</strong>al<br />
agreement value.<br />
19.5 As far as SOR items are concerned, the limit of 25% would apply to the value of<br />
SOR schedule as a whole and not on <strong>in</strong>dividual SOR items. However, <strong>in</strong> case of<br />
NS items, the limit of 25% would apply on the <strong>in</strong>dividual items irrespective of the<br />
manner of quot<strong>in</strong>g the rate (s<strong>in</strong>gle percentage rate or <strong>in</strong>dividual item rate).<br />
19.6 No such quantity variation limit shall apply for foundation items.<br />
19.4 When the gross value of the work to be executed is likely to <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> excess of<br />
25% of the orig<strong>in</strong>al value of the agreement, the contractor should notify the<br />
Eng<strong>in</strong>eer <strong>in</strong> –charge at least one week before such necessity arises.<br />
19.5 Railway reserves the right to refix the rates, by mutual consent, of those items <strong>in</strong><br />
the schedule, where the quantities have exceeded by 25% of the agreemental<br />
quantities.<br />
19.6 An undertak<strong>in</strong>g shall be given to the effect that additional quantities up to 25% of<br />
the contract value at the same unit rates shall be supplied by the tenderer <strong>in</strong> case<br />
order for the additional quantity is placed with<strong>in</strong> the currency period of contract.<br />
It should be noted that this excludes additional quantities that may be required as<br />
warranty or replacement due to defective design and manufacture etc. On this<br />
account, the responsibility of the tenderer under the warranty clause will not be<br />
diluted <strong>in</strong> any way.<br />
