17.6 The cost of <strong>in</strong>spection of equipment and materials, all tests and/or analysis<br />

performed shall be borne by the Contractor.<br />

17.7 All expenses of the purchasers representative shall be borne by the purchaser<br />

whether the <strong>in</strong>spected materials is utilised <strong>in</strong> the work or not.<br />

17.8 In case any material be found not accord<strong>in</strong>g to the standard specifications after<br />

delivery at site, the contractor shall immediately remove such materials with<strong>in</strong> 48<br />

hours from Railway premises at his own cost.<br />

18. INSPECTION OF WORKS<br />

18.1 The Eng<strong>in</strong>eer or his representative may <strong>in</strong>spect and test the various portions of the<br />

work at all stages and shall have full power to reject all or any portion of the<br />

work that he may consider to be defective or <strong>in</strong>ferior <strong>in</strong> quality of materials<br />

workmanship of design <strong>in</strong> comparison to what is called for <strong>in</strong> the specification.<br />

18.2 All material brought to site can be erected only after <strong>in</strong>spection and acceptance by<br />

the Eng<strong>in</strong>eer <strong>in</strong> charge or his authorised representative. Similarly, dur<strong>in</strong>g the<br />

execution of the contract, samples may be taken for the purpose of test and/or<br />

analysis under the conditions laid down <strong>in</strong> specification, such samples to be<br />

prepared for test<strong>in</strong>g and forwarded free of all cost to the Railway. The contractor<br />

shall carryout such tests at the cost as are necessary <strong>in</strong> the op<strong>in</strong>ion of the Railway to<br />

ensure necessary compliance of the specifications of the contractor.<br />

18.3 In the event of rejection of any work already executed and not <strong>in</strong> accordance<br />

with specification as <strong>in</strong> this tender and/or as determ<strong>in</strong>ed by the Eng<strong>in</strong>eer or<br />

which the Contractor has been apprised, the Contractor shall carry out<br />

alterations/replacements to such works to the satisfaction of the Eng<strong>in</strong>eer for which<br />

no additional expenses will be borne by the Railway.<br />

18.4 Inspection of completed works<br />

The contractor shall advise the railway 15 days <strong>in</strong> advance the time when his<br />

portion of the work will be completed by him and be ready for <strong>in</strong>spection. The<br />

Railway will make <strong>in</strong>spection after the advice of completion of work is received<br />

from the Contractor.<br />

Although the contractor’s portion of the work shall be <strong>in</strong>spected by the Railway as<br />

<strong>in</strong>dicated above, it is possible that certa<strong>in</strong> defects may appear at the time of<br />

<strong>in</strong>stallation. The Contractor shall be responsible to rectify these defects to the<br />

satisfaction of the Railway.<br />
