6.8 Railway may also take samples dur<strong>in</strong>g the course of execution of works and get<br />

cement tested to ascerta<strong>in</strong> its conformity to the relevant IS specification<br />

contractor’s cost particular lot is put to use.<br />

6.9 In case samples tested do not pass the quality tests conducted, the entire batch<br />

of cement Supplied shall be rejected and returned to the contractor.<br />

6.10 For storage of cement, the contractor shall have to construct a temporary<br />

Godown of adequate capacity at his own cost.<br />

6.11.1 The record of cement brought to the site of work, daily consumption, daily open<strong>in</strong>g<br />

balance and clos<strong>in</strong>g balance shall be ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed at site jo<strong>in</strong>tly by the Inspector In-charge<br />

of work and contractor or his authorized representative. For this purpose 2 set of register<br />

duly reconciled and signed by the contractor and the Inspector <strong>in</strong> charge of work<br />

certify<strong>in</strong>g the open<strong>in</strong>g balance consumption, clos<strong>in</strong>g balance should be ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed. One<br />

register each shall be kept <strong>in</strong> the custody of Inspector <strong>in</strong> charge of work and the<br />

contractor or his representative.<br />

6.12 The Contractor shall be the custodian of cement godown and shall keep the<br />

godown under his lock and key to ensure safe custody of cement. The contractor<br />

shall ensure that cement once brought to the site and accounted for shall be<br />

used at the site only and shall not be taken away from site for any other purpose.<br />

6.13 The contractor shall make the cement godown available to the site Eng<strong>in</strong>eer or<br />

his representative as and when required.<br />

6.14 Land for construct<strong>in</strong>g the temporary cement godown shall be handed over by the<br />

Railway on the written request of the contractor free of any rent.<br />

6.15 The Contractor shall ensure that after completion of the work and/or determ<strong>in</strong>ation of the<br />

contract for any reason whatsoever, the temporary cement godown shall be dismantled<br />

and all dismantled materials/debris shall be removed and the clear site shall be handed<br />

over back to Railways. All the released material shall be the property of the contractor<br />

and no payment shall be made by the Railway for dismantl<strong>in</strong>g etc. The f<strong>in</strong>al bill &<br />

Earnest Money/Security deposit shall not be released unless the godown is dismantled<br />

and the site is cleared <strong>in</strong> all respects.<br />

6.16 The consumption of cement on works shall be assessed on the basis of cement contents<br />

per unit quantity for various items of work as per Indian Railways Unified Standard<br />

Schedule of Rates (works & Materials) North Central Railway Allahabad Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Department 2010.<br />
