Before mailing/submitting, the application forms the candidate are
required to check that:
• The Application Form is complete in all respects and declaration by
the candidate and his/her father/guardian are duly signed by
both of them.
• The photographs and the certificate as at column 13 of the
Application Form duly attested/signed by the Head of the
Institution last attended/attending only.
• Identical passport size photographs (without cap) are affixed on
proper place duly attested as instructed above.
• Postage stamps affixed as instructed.

1. Request for change of Counseling/Test date will not be accepted.
2. Syllabus for Test to be held on 19/07/2009 at NIFFT, Ranchi:
From Basic level upto Degree/Diploma of Eligibility. Test
emphasizes on Mathematical Skills, Science & Engg. Aptitudes,
Analytical ability, General English & General Awareness.
3. Disputes, if any, arising out of or relating to any matter
whatsoever, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of
Ranchi Court.

The Institute
The National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT) established by
the Government of India in collaboration with UNDP-UNESCO in 1966. NIFFT offers
specialized teaching and training programmes and conducts research and
development activities applicable to foundry and forge technology. The Institute is
located in Ranchi which is the epicenter of vigorous industrial activity and is being
catapulted into a highly industrialized region, the accent being on heavy metal-working
connected with engineering of ferrous metals. The Institute, therefore, provides ideal
environment for carrying out studies and industrial research related to general
manufacturing activities.
NIFFT is administered through a duly constituted Board of Governors representing
foundry and forge organizations, professional bodies, education and research
institutions, Ministry of Human Resource Development, the Ministry of Industry and All
India Council for Technical Education.
The Institute is residential and has a well laid out campus at Hatia, which is about 8
Km. from Ranchi Railway Station and 3 Km. from Hatia Railway Station on the Ranchi
Chaibasa Road and is on the periphery of the Heavy Engineering Corporation
complex. All the students have to reside in the Institute campus for which adequate
hostel facilities will be available.
The Institute has been offering M. Tech. degree course in Foundry-Forge Technology
and in Manufacturing Engineering, Advanced Diploma Course in Foundry/Forge
Technology, B. Tech. Course in Manufacturing Engineering and in Metallurgy &
Materials Engineering, Refresher Courses and unit based programmes. It is also
proposed to offer fellowship (doctoral level) programmes in near future.
The Institute processes, well equipped laboratories and workshops, a modern
Computer Centre, a Library & Documentation Centre and well qualified and
experienced faculty. The student's Gymkhana having facilities for indoor and outdoor
games, sports and cultural activities is also provided. The Institute attempts to arrange
campus interview to find suitable opportunities for the students.
About the Course
The course programme aims to develop suitable personnel for the fast growing foundry
and forge industries in country. The course is industrially oriented and is designed to
impart professional specialization in the concerned fields. The programme of studies
which is spread over a period of 18 months (3 semesters) gives the students the best
opportunity for intensive study of the relevant subjects in the fields of foundry/forge
technology through lectures, laboratory and workshop practices, seminars, technical
film shows, inplant training.
The Govt. of India has granted recognition to the Advanced Diploma in Foundry/Forge
Technology awarded by the National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology,
Ranchi for the purpose of recruitment to posts and services under the Central
Government where specialized training in the field of foundry/forge technology is the
prescribed qualification. The Advanced Diploma awarded by NIFFT is however, not
equivalent to a degree in engineering.
Eligibility for Admission
Diploma in Metallurgical/ Mechanical/ Production Engineering or those having B.Sc.
degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates appearing at the
qualifying examination may also apply for admission. However, candidates selected
shall be required to produce the final result latest by the date prescribed by the
Institute. Minimum marks in qualifying examination is 50% for General/OBC and 45%
for SC/ST.

Mode of Application:-
Prescribed Application Form with acknowledgement card and envelope is sent for call
letter along with this brochure. The candidate is required to send the following so as to
reach the Institute on or before the last date prescribed.
I. Application Form duly filled in with photograph duly attested by Head of Institution
last attended/ attending or Gazetted Officer and pasted thereon.
II. Attested copies of relevant Certificate and Marksheets of matriculation and
qualifying examination.
III. Caste Certificate (for OBC/SC/ST only)* written either in English or Hindi.
IV. Envelope to be affixed with Rs. 25/ - postage stamps.
V. Acknowledgement Card duly filled in and Rs. 4/- postage stamp affixed.
Incomplete application without proper certification is liable to be rejected. No
correspondence will be entertained regarding incomplete applications.
The call letter would be sent by Registered post, well in time to the candidates,
however, the Institute does not take any responsibility for its non-receipt or postal
delay.
Method of Selection
Selection will be made on the basis of marks, counseling, tests etc. Selected
candidates will have to appear in medical test by the Institute Doctor. Written test will
be conducted at Ranchi only.
The selected candidate for admission after counseling will be required to pay the
prescribed fee which will be indicated in the selection letter towards first installment
including caution money on the counseling date itself, failing which their selection will
stand automatically cancelled.
* OBC (Non-creamy Layer) candidates have to produce an undertaking
(As per Annexure-I) and a certificate (as per annexure –II)

All the candidates (Other than SC / ST) if they belong to Other Backward Classes (Non

Annexure-I.
OBC (Non Creamy Layer) candidates whose parents' yearly income not exceed Rs. 2.5

It is to be noted that candidates who do not provide by the required information about
