Purpose<br />
To contribute to an efficient and effective conservation system <strong>for</strong> potato genetic resources<br />
Objectives<br />
! To identify collections qualifying <strong>for</strong> long-term support by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Global</strong> <strong>Crop</strong> Diversity Trust,<br />
including <strong>the</strong>ir urgent upgrading and capacity building needs.<br />
! To improve collaboration between <strong>the</strong> relevant holders <strong>of</strong> potato genetic resources<br />
collections globally<br />
3. <strong>Ex</strong>pected outputs<br />
! An assessment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> status <strong>of</strong> potato collections and a widely supported analysis <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong>ir importance at <strong>the</strong> regional and global level.<br />

! Streng<strong>the</strong>ned collaboration between <strong>the</strong> major collection holders through <strong>the</strong><br />
establishment <strong>of</strong> a “<strong>Global</strong> Consortium <strong>for</strong> <strong>Potato</strong> <strong>Conservation</strong>”.<br />
! A detailed proposal <strong>for</strong> a global strategy <strong>for</strong> ex situ conservation <strong>of</strong> potato, based on <strong>the</strong><br />
principles <strong>of</strong> collaboration and sharing <strong>of</strong> responsibilities, facilities and tasks, and<br />
