• Leaves contain several types of pigments:<br />
– Chlorophylls - Green<br />
– Carotenoids – Yellow/Orange<br />
– Anthocyanins (red or blue) may also be present<br />
– In fall, chlorophyll is no longer produced and<br />
the existing chlorophyll is broken down by the<br />
plant<br />
– Other pigment colors are revealed.
