HF OIL ACTUATED POWER TAKE OFF
HFO
The HFO clutches Fig. 1 have been developed by Transfluid to
meet the growing market demand for power take offs applied to
high speed, high horsepower industrial engines and having
remote control operation.
HFOs consist of an oil actuated clutch assembly (dry plates) with
shaft and bearings suitable for high radial loads mounted in a
cast iron housing that provides for easy engine installation.
The oil actuation is provided by a rotating union mounted on the
shaft end allowing the oil to engage and disengage the clutch.
This system allows the use of HFO for belt driven applications only.
The oil actuation permits remote control as well as a larger
transmittable torque compared to the traditional overcenter PTOs.
In addition, due to the continuous pressure applied to the clutch
plates, the HFO is a self adjusting clutch which drastically
reduces the maintenance costs especially on heavy duty
applications where plate wear is typical.
Additional to the HFO is the HFF design (flanged shaft by QD).
This model was designed for road milling machines where a
compact layout is required.
HFU
The HFU clutches have been designed to complete the
TRANSFLUID range of power take offs for new potential
markets. The HFU is the in-line version providing the same
technical performances as the HFO.
The oil actuation is provided by oil radial inlet instead of axial as
per HFO: this configuration permits the mounting of couplings
and/or cardan shafts on the output shaft.
HFU 211 - HFU 311
For sizes 211 and 311 the actuation oil is controlled externally
and enters the clutch radially directly into the bearing carrier as
shown in Fig. 2; if an application max. oil temperature exceeds
120 °C, bearing lubrication can be forced type and achieved
through an additional kit (see scheme).
211 and 311 have the same radial load capacity of HFO 211
(contact Transfluid).
HFU 314 - HFU 318
For sizes 314 and 318 the actuation oil is controlled by the
supplied solenoid valve located on the clutch (see Fig. 3) and
enters radially directly into the bearing carrier.
314 and 318 are not suitable for belt driven application.
Notes for both HFO and HFU:
– The pressure switch should sense low pressure and disengage the
clutch. Reset of this automatic feature must require operator
intervention.
ATTENTION if pressure returns to normal without operator
intervention the machine could restart unexpectedly.
– Set pressure switch to dump pressure to clutch or sound alarm at 3
bar (45 psi) below normal operating pressure.
– Disengaged residual pressure should not exceed 0.5 bar.
IMPORTANT NOTICES
• Disregarding system torsional compatibiliy could cause
damage to components in the drive train resulting in loss of
mobility or power transmission for which the drive is
intended. At minimum, system torsional compatibility could
result in unwanted noise and vibration at low speeds.
• The responsability for ensuring that the torsional load of the
system is satisfactory rests with the assembler of the drive
and driven equipment.
• The acceleration of large inertial loads may require special
applications or downsizing of the intended units. Transfluid
is prepared to assist in finding solutions to potential inertial
problems that relate to the power take-off.
