Data Quality Input<br />
As a reminder, the <strong>Canada</strong> Border Services Agency (CBSA) stipulates that <strong>Air</strong> Cargo Reporting be<br />
completed as follows when sending advance electronic information directly to the CBSA or to <strong>Air</strong><br />
<strong>Canada</strong> Cargo for forwarding to CBSA:<br />
1. The following fields are mandatory for both the Shipper and the Consignee and cannot contain any<br />
special characters such as dashes (-), asterisks (*) or dots (.). Omitting any one of these fields<br />
will result in a “Hold for more Information”.<br />
! Full description of goods (e.g.: “NEWSPAPER” instead of “DOCUMENTS”;<br />
“Pharmaceutical cannot be accepted. The Full name of Pharmaceutical must be<br />
stipulated “NITROGLYCERIN”)<br />
! Complete name of Shipper and Consignee<br />
! Street number and street name<br />
! Full city name<br />
! Province or State Code (only the codes on the attachment are permissible).<br />
(Please note that Province or State Code is only mandatory for the Consignee.)<br />
! Country Code (Only the codes on the attachment are permissible.)<br />

! Postal Code (e.g.: ”H3T 1G2” instead of “H3T1G2 or H3T-1G2. The space is also mandatory.) or<br />
Zip Code (e.g.: “78123”. No spaces are permitted.)<br />
! Routing Code (All city segments must be included; e.g.: ZRH YYZ YWG. Spaces between City<br />
Codes are not mandatory but dashes are not permitted.)<br />
2. Telephone numbers are optional fields. If input, use only numerals. Spaces are<br />
mandatory as follows: (e.g.: “900 555 1212”). Do not use dashes or run numbers together.<br />
3. Freight Forwarders must keep in mind that the consignee field requires final Consignee<br />
Information within the House, or within the Master (if this is the only air waybill being submitted).<br />
Inputting the name of the Freight Forwarder in the Consignee field will result in a “Hold for More<br />
Information”.
Adherence to these instructions will prevent unnecessary delays due to “Holds for More<br />
Information”.<br />
