<strong>2002</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Orthopaedics<br />

New Faculty<br />

John Green, M.D. Todd Jarosz, M.D. Seth Leopold, M.D.<br />

Dr. Green received his<br />

undergraduate degree in Biopsychology<br />

as well as his<br />

medical degree from the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

Cincinnati. His internship <strong>and</strong><br />

residency training in orthopaedic<br />

surgery were completed at Michigan<br />

State <strong>University</strong>/McLaren Regional<br />

Medical Center. Dr. Green then went<br />

on to complete his sports medicine<br />

fellowship training at the Minneapolis<br />

Sports Medicine Center. In 1997 he was<br />

recruited to begin a sports medicine<br />

program at LSU Health Sciences Center<br />

in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Green is<br />

the new director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Washington</strong> Sports Medicine Clinic in<br />

the Hec Edmundson Pavilion where he<br />

specializes in the surgical treatment <strong>of</strong><br />

sports injuries.<br />

Dr. Jarosz completed his<br />

undergraduate education at<br />

Albright College in Reading,<br />

Pennsylvania. He, then, received his<br />

medical degree from the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

Medicine & Dentistry Robert Wood<br />

Johnson Medical School@Camden. He<br />

completed a General Surgical<br />

Internship <strong>and</strong> Residency in<br />

Orthopaedic Surgery at the <strong>University</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> Virginia. He also completed three<br />

additional years <strong>of</strong> advanced training<br />

by completing a two-year<br />

Sportsmedicine fellowship in Orl<strong>and</strong>o,<br />

Florida, <strong>and</strong> a fellowship in Spinal/<br />

Reconstructive Surgery at the<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Maryl<strong>and</strong>. He has a<br />

special interest in sports-related spinal<br />

injury, complex spinal reconstructive<br />

surgery, <strong>and</strong> shoulder <strong>and</strong> knee<br />

arthroscopy. He is involved with<br />

patient care at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Washington</strong> Hospital, Harborview<br />

Medical Center, <strong>and</strong> the Eastside Clinic.<br />

Dr. Leopold received his medical<br />

degree with honors in research<br />

from Cornell <strong>University</strong> in<br />

1993. Subsequently, he completed an<br />

orthopaedic surgery residency at the<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Chicago, <strong>and</strong> pursued<br />

subspecialty training in joint<br />

replacement at Rush-Presbyterian-St.<br />

Luke’s Medical Center, an<br />

internationally-known referral hospital<br />

for complex joint reconstruction. Dr.<br />

Leopold comes to UW after serving<br />

three years in the US Army Medical<br />

Corps, where he taught <strong>and</strong> performed<br />

joint replacement surgery, <strong>and</strong> pursued<br />

research interests related to both basic<br />

science <strong>and</strong> clinical aspects <strong>of</strong> arthritis<br />

surgery. His practice serves patients<br />

with arthritis, especially <strong>of</strong> the hips <strong>and</strong><br />

knees, as well as individuals suffering<br />

with persistently painful or failed joint<br />

replacements. In addition, Dr. Leopold<br />

is experienced at a variety <strong>of</strong> minimallyinvasive<br />

joint replacement techniques,<br />

which can significantly shorten the<br />

recovery period following surgery in<br />

properly-selected patients. Dr. Leopold<br />

sees patients on the Eastside <strong>and</strong> at<br />

UWMC-Roosevelt.<br />
