Senior School News
Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations
We wish our 2012 graduating class well as they approach
the final hurdle of their secondary studies. Many of the
class have been in school this week getting last minute
tips and receiving feedback from staff. Those that I have
spoken to are confident in their preparation and have done
the work to perform at their best.
In previous years we have invited members of the school
community to pass on messages of good luck to the
students (either personally or as a group). The knowledge
that there is support and understanding from the wider
school community is most uplifting.
If you would like to pass on a message, please either drop
it into the Heads of School’s office on D-level or email it to
Mr Martineau (ianmartineau@aism.edu.my).
Senior School Student Leadership elections
Nominations for student leadership positions in the Senior
School close this Friday, 12th October. Nomination forms
can be collected from the Heads of Schools office on D-level.
Welcome to five new students in the Senior School
Term 4 would not generally be a time when we would
expect new enrolments. This week we welcomed two
Year 11 students, two Year 10 students and one Year 9
student. All seem to have settled in well and are enjoying
the welcoming nature of AISM.
Graduations
Each year our Year 10 and Year 12 cohorts have an end of
year function to mark the finish of their respective courses.
Year 10 will hold their function on 23rd November at the
Boulevard Hotel
Year 12 will hold their function on Friday, 16th November
at the Royal Chulan Hotel.
Information about these events will be distributed via the
Home Room teachers.

Middle School News
Welcome back to Term 4. I hope you have all had
a very restful break. I would like to welcome our
eight new families into the Middle School. We look
forward to getting to know you well throughout
the term.
International Schools’ Assessment (ISA)
Testing
A reminder that this week all students from Years
3 to 10 will be completing the ISA testing from
Wednesday to Friday. We also enjoyed an exciting
opportunity for students with our visiting British
author, Ian Billings. All students participated in
either a workshop or presentation by the author.
Assessment Week
Assessment week is in Week 4. Students will be
coming home with an Assessment Timetable at
the end of Week 2.
Students in Middle School undertake two language
classes. These are:
Language Study - Where students elect a
language and learn for at least two years.
Conversation Language - Where students study
a language to develop capacity to hold a very
simple conversation. This course is taken for one
year.
Conversation Language (called LOTE 2)
Selections are due in for current year 5,6 and 7s.
Students were given out forms in Week 10, Term
3. If you require an additional form, please pick
one up from Junior School reception.

Junior School News
Swimming Programme
Welcome back to everyone and welcome to our new families. This term there are a number of exciting things
happening for our Junior School students. We begin our swim programme next week and each class will have
a lesson on both Mondays and Wednesdays for the following five weeks. Your child’s class teacher will be
sending out the exact details. The programme is based on the Water Safety and Learn to Swim course and
also the Development of Competitive Strokes offered as part of the Australian Austswim programme. The swim
programme will end with our Junior School Swim Carnival on the 16th of November.
Junior School Art Prize & Dance Competition
This term we will also hold our Junior School Art Prize and our Dance Competition. Students may enter a
painting, drawing, sculpture or a construction into the Art Prize. The closing date for entries is Thursday, October
25th. The Dance Competition will be taking place during Week 7 and 8 (19th November to 30th November).
There is still plenty of time to get painting and work on your dance moves.
