17.3 Update Checking
Traffic rule that allows remote administration
Hint:
In Kerio Control, you can use a similar method to allow or block remote administration of
Kerio Connect — for connection via the Administration Console, use the predefined service
Kerio Connect Admin, for the Kerio Connect Administration use Kerio Connect WebAdmin.
Note: Be very careful while defining traffic rules, otherwise you could block remote
administration from the host you are currently working on. However, in most cases, Kerio
Control recognizes such situation and shows a warning message. Local connections (from the
Kerio Control Engine’s host) works anyway. Such a traffic cannot be blocked by any rule.
17.3 Update Checking
Kerio Control enables automatic check for new versions at the Kerio Technologies website.
Update checker acts differently in dependence on the firewall’s platform:
• in the Windows edition, only links to sources with more information and to installation
package download are provided,
• in the Software Appliance / VMware Virtual Appliance edition, the firewall may
download a new image of the drive and perform update of the entire appliance
automatically.
