Configuration of network services The DHCP server can be enabled/disabled using the DHCP Server enabled option (at the top). Configuration can be modified even when the DHCP server is disabled. Automatic configuration of IP scopes By default, the DHCP server works in the mode of automatic configuration of IP scopes. In this mode, Kerio Control detects parameters of network interfaces included in group Trusted /Local and uses them to generate and update IP scopes for the corresponding subnets. Whenever an interface is changed in group Trusted /Local, the DHCP server’s configuration will be updated automatically. For each interface’s subnet, a scope of the following parameters will be created: • Range — by IP address of the interface and the corresponding subnet mask. The range should cover the particular subnet with free resources for assigned static addresses (e.g. for mask 255.255.255.0, the range from x.x.x.11 to x.x.x.254 will be created). If an interface’s address is covered by a range, then an exception is automatically defined for it. • Subnet mask — according to the particular interface. • Default gateway — IP address of the particular interface. • DNS server — IP address of the particular interface. Some other parameters that are available at the interface can also be set (DNS domain, WINS server address). This depends on the firewall’s operating system as well as on the configuration of the particular interface. Warning: In case of automatic configuration, it is recommended to administer the DHCP server only via the Kerio Control Administration web interface (see chapter 3.1). Administration Console allows only manual configuration and it therefore switches to the manual mode any time any changes are to be made (without any indication). Manual Definition of Scopes and Reservations If you do not want to use the automatic configuration of IP scopes, go to Kerio Control Administration and switch to the manual configuration mode or perform the settings in Administration Console where only manual configuration is available and the mode is switched automatically upon changes saving. However, bear in mind that changes of interfaces in group Trusted /Local (e.g. adding of a new interface, change of IP address, etc.) require manual update of address scopes defined in the DHCP server! The following description focuses on Administration Console. The Scopes section includes two parts — in one address scopes and in the other leases and reservations are defined: 132

The IP subnet can be either ticked to activate the scope or unticked to make the scope inactive (scopes can be temporarily switched off without deleting and adding again). Each subnet includes also a list of reservations of IP addresses that are defined in it. In the Default options item (the first item in the table) you can set default parameters for DHCP server.
