Genomic selection clearly takes us forward, especially in<br />
Red Holstein breeding but so far it has not been easy to<br />
find a top sire whose pedigree does not include already<br />
heavily used bulls. For this reason, Jerudo had and still<br />
has a special position. He was born in 2003 and is an<br />
“outcross“ even today. The demand for this all-rounder<br />
from a deep <strong>German</strong> cow family known for longevity<br />
therefore remains.<br />
The juvenile daughters of Jerudo have sufficient strength<br />
and depth so that they keep developing into top rated<br />
cows from lactation to lactation. Of medium frame, the<br />
heifers have lots of dairy type and capacity. The adequately<br />
wide rumps show optimal slope and outstandingly<br />
complete the correct overall picture so that Jerudo<br />
daughters can also compete in the show ring.<br />
The solid feet and legs of the Jerudo daughters are<br />
characterized by correct angle and parallel set. Animals<br />
impress with their locomotion as well, and score with<br />
their high closed feet.<br />
Rear udders are highly attached and are of good width,<br />
carried by a strong suspensory ligament. Fore udders<br />
should be praised – they are attached very firmly and<br />
show lots of harmony. As well as fore udders, the correct<br />
teat placement and very good udder texture should also<br />
be mentioned.<br />
Top-class breeding values for udder health, longevity<br />
and daughter fertility in particular, make Jerudo a bull<br />
not to be missed. In addition, there is good production<br />
combined with excellent components so Jerudo was used<br />
as a sire of sons in every Red Holstein breeding program<br />
worldwide and has been proved with his first sons.<br />
