Acting Director, Sydney Breast Cancer Institute (SBCI)
On behalf of the SBCI team I would like to thank all
our many friends and supporters, above all the
dedicated members of the SBCF who give so generously
of their time and energy to assist our work. The
Foundation has been invaluable in helping the SBCI
A Message from
Roche Oncology
Roche Oncology recognises the Sydney Cancer
Centre as one of Australia’s leading cancer
research and treatment centres, and we are delighted
and proud to be partnering with the Sydney Breast
Cancer Institute to support the introduction of a Clinical
and Translational Research Fellowship. The Fellowship
is an excellent initiative which will offer invaluable
educational and research opportunities in the field of
breast cancer for local oncology trainees. Ultimately
this can only help in the fight against breast cancer.
"Roche is strongly committed to supporting local
initiatives which will further knowledge of, and
improve treatment outcomes for, this devastating
disease which currently affects around 1 in 11 women
in Australia," emphasised David Kingston, Medical
Director, Roche Products Pty Ltd.
As the leading oncology company world-wide, with 5
products proven to offer survival advantage to cancer
patients, Roche works with a number of local
organisations and supports numerous projects within
the Australian cancer community in order to move
towards our mutual
goal of improving
patient care.
individual cancers. Dr Murphy will establish
“benchtop” research with the SBCI, so essential for
the Institute to have a significant research profile in
the present era. This enables our patients to be at the
forefront of new information that translates directly to
clinical practice.
Secured funding of $20,000 from The Ronald Geoffrey
Arnott Foundation (administered by Perpetual Trustees
Australia Limited) that will contribute to supporting
the position of the Breast Care Nurse.
Purchased a new ultrasound machine for the Rachel
Forster Breast Clinic to provide a more streamlined
“one-stop-shop” service to all its patients.
Purchasing a Bioimpedance machine (IMP SF B7
Multiple Frequency Analyser) that assists with the
diagnosis and treatment of lymphoedema in breast
cancer survivors.
Purchasing cushioning for chemotherapy tables in the
Gloucester House to increase patient comfort.
This list is by no means comprehensive and is an
impressive testimony to the contribution the Foundation
makes to the professional work of the SBCI.
