❏ the safety <strong>and</strong> wellbeing <strong>of</strong> a child/young person is <strong>at</strong> risk or there<br />

is the possibility <strong>of</strong> harm to others (ie child protection or suicide);<br />

❏ there is a serious risk to public health;<br />

❏ by virtue <strong>of</strong> st<strong>at</strong>ute or court order; or<br />

❏ for the prevention, detection or prosecution <strong>of</strong> serious crime.<br />

If there is reasonable pr<strong>of</strong>essional concern th<strong>at</strong> a child may be <strong>at</strong> risk <strong>of</strong> harm<br />

this will always override a pr<strong>of</strong>essional or agency requirement to keep<br />

inform<strong>at</strong>ion confidential. Pr<strong>of</strong>essionals should tell young people when they<br />

may have to share inform<strong>at</strong>ion without their consent.<br />
