SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the first
Sunday at the 11:30 AM Mass. No Baptisms are
celebrated during Lent. Parent preparation is required.
The parent meeting for Baptism is generally on the first
Monday of the month at 7:00 PM. Please call the Parish
Office for more information

SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
Please call the Parish Office at least 6 months before
your desired wedding date, to check availability.

Arrangements should be made at the Parish Office
before publication in the newspaper.

Homebound because of sickness or age, please call the
Parish Office (630-627-4526) to arrange a visit with a
Minister of Care or a priest.
SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK
Please call the Parish Office for arrangements.
Because of HIPAA Privacy regulations, hospitals can no
longer contact the parish. If you are hospitalized and
would like a priest or minister from St. Pius X to visit or
have your name added to the Prayers of the Faithful,
your family should notify the Parish Office.

As a general rule, we encourage using “bulletin space”

should be observed if an insert is necessary:A proposed
insert must be submitted for approval prior to bulletin
insertion weekend. Approved inserts must be delivered

Catholic psychotherapist Deacon Dr. Bob McDonald provides

second look at the skills and Theology of this important

Catechism Corner: “The Christian family is a communion of persons, a sign and image of the communion of the Father and the
Son in the Holy Spirit. In the procreation and education of children it reflects the Father’s work of creation. It is called to partake of
the prayer and sacrifice of Christ. Daily prayer and the reading of the Word of God strengthen it in charity. The Christian family
has an evangelizing and missionary task.” (CCC, n. 2205)
Passage: “Coming forth from the eternal Father's love, founded in time by Christ the Redeemer and made one in the Holy
Spirit, the Church has a saving and an eschatological purpose which can be fully attained only in the future world. But she is
already present in this world, and is composed of men, that is, of members of the earthly city who have a call to form the family of
God's children during the present history of the human race, and to keep increasing it until the Lord returns. United on behalf of
heavenly values and enriched by them, this family has been ‘constituted and structured as a society in this world’ by Christ, and is
equipped ‘by appropriate means for visible and social union.’ Thus the Church, at once a visible association and a
spiritual community,’ goes forward together with humanity and experiences the same earthly lot which the world

The Vision of Hope
Congregation of the Resurrection
In 1999, the Congregation of the Resurrection created a new document entitled the “Vision of Hope.” This
document focuses on the theological, as well as the practical, dimensions of what it means to be a community of
hope. This year we will focus on the Congregation's concept of this “Vision of Hope” and the related texts of the
Order, and what this means for everyone who participates in this Resurrectionist spirituality.
The praying of the Liturgy of the Hours is often part of "common prayer". Communal prayer is an important element of life in
community and is regarded as efficacious prayer. “Common prayer is one of the ways in which we give expression to our
unity; through it we support and encourage one another to remain faithful to the Community. We esteem common prayer as
especially efficacious because Christ is in our midst when we pray together, and the Holy Spirit can speak to us through others when
we are united in spontaneous prayer.” (Art. 60)

help out at Fall Fest on Sunday, September 22. Help is

Junior High/High School Students - Assist with
checking tickets, serving non-alcoholic beverages,
clearing tables and carrying trays for those who need

CALLING ALL BAKERS!
Your help is needed to provide delicious desserts for
Fall Fest on Sunday, September 22
The committee is looking for desserts that are "finger foods"
and can be easily picked up; bars, cookies, or a favorite recipe
would be wonderful. Your desserts should be cut into serving
pieces and ready to be plated. Please use disposable plates or
containers that need not be returned. Please bring your items to
the Social Center after 8 am on Sunday morning, September 22.
If you have any questions, you can contact Carol Gawenda at
ricksmag530@gmail.com. Any desserts you can bring would be
appreciated! We all know that a delicious dessert completes a
grand meal!

The St. Vincent de Paul truck will be in our parking lot the weekend of September 28/29!! Our volunteers will be waiting for you at
the truck to help you unload. Please have all your donations bagged or boxed. No hangers please.

Clothing, shoes, linens and books in good or bad condition. Unusable clothing, shoes, linens and even books generate income
for the needy because they are sold for rags or in bulk. SPECIAL NEED FOR SCHOOL CLOTHING & COATS FOR
CHILDREN!
Small housewares (toasters, blenders, mixers, etc.)
Electronics-- The SVdP Thrift Shops are now electronic recycling centers! We can take small electronics and computers at the
clothing drive. For larger item donations, please call for a home pick up. No console TV’s or large screen TV’s accepted.
Your donations go to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shops where much of your donations are given away free to needy families in
the community. Some are sold at reasonable prices at the thrift shops so that needy families can shop with dignity. “Proceeds” from
the thrift shops go into a general assistance fund where St. Vincent de Paul Conferences at the churches help folks with rent,
mortgage or utility assistance.
For large items that you would like to donate including bicycles or furniture, call to schedule a pick up at your home at
630-231-4658.

From the Desk of the Business Manager
Parking lot sealing and striping – because the quality of the
work done on the Westmore parking area was unsatisfactory,
we hired another company who will re-do the Westmore area
and complete the remainder of the campus this weekend.
Fall Fest – hard to believe but the Fall Fest is one week away,
September 20-22. Volunteer sign-up sheets are available in
back of church or at the Parish Office. We can use help in many
areas. Why not give us a hand in some area over that weekend.
Meal and Raffle tickets are available after weekend Masses.
New this year -- tickets are available online on our parish
website using the Online Giving link. Tickets will be mailed to
you if you purchase online.
Paver Brick Project – we will officially kick off the paver
brick project at the Fall Fest. Ordering brochures and sample
engraved bricks will be available at the fest.
Hot Water Tank – a new hot water tank was installed in the
Social Center kitchen.

GENEROSO PERDÓN
Moisés implora la compasión de Dios en la primera
lectura de hoy. El objeto del ruego de Moisés no es ofrecer un
modelo para pacificar a un Dios airado, sino demostrar que, no
importa la gravedad de nuestro pecado, Dios siempre nos
perdona.
En su carta a Timoteo, Pablo se ofrece a sí mismo, el
gran pecador, como ejemplo de la grandeza del perdón de Dios.
Finalmente, las parábolas del Evangelio de hoy, crean un mural
del perdón amoroso de Dios. Como una diligente ama de casa, un
buen pastor, un padre amoroso, Dios no escatima esfuerzo para
recobrar al que se ha extraviado, y perdonarlo. Al hacer notar que
la mujer deja sus nueve monedas de plata, que el pastor deja sus
noventa y nueve ovejas esperando, y que el padre deja a su hijo
mayor enfadado, Jesús nos urge a abandonar un punto de vista
mezquino de la vida. Si Dios puede ser tan generoso, tan
perdonador y tan amoroso con aquellos considerados no
merecedores, nosotros debemos actuar de igual manera.

El domingo 22 de Septiembre, tendremos nuestra fiesta de Otoño comenzando con la Santa Misa
a las 10:30 am. Con música Polaca. Después de la misa pasaremos a comer habrá “puerco
rostizado”, rifas y juegos divertidos para los niños.
El costo de los boletos para la comida es de $8.00 ($12.00 el día del evento) y $4.00 los boleto
para los niños ($5.00 el día del evento).
Los boletos para la rifa y comida los puede comprar al salir de misa o en la oficina parroquial.
La comida se sirve de 12:00 pm. a 2:30 pm.

Auditions for Winter Play
Saint Genesius Productions announces AUDITIONS for the
winter play. Open to all 4th-12th grade students who currently
attend or have graduated from a Catholic grammar school.
Rehearsals: Thursdays from 6-9 pm and Saturdays from 10 am
to 2pm. October 3-December 7.
Tech: December 11-13
Performances: Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15.
Four available audition times (choose one):
Thursday OR Friday, September 26 and 27
6:00 pm OR 7:30 pm on both nights. Callbacks on
