North Shore Community Centre news

Summer is not far away,
but you could not tell that by
the way the weather has
been lately. As summer gets
closer, our exercise classes
are coming to an end, but
will be starting again in
September. In the meantime
the weather will be nice and
we can all get out to have
our long walks to help maintain
good health. Watch for
the September start dates of
exercise classes in this
Senior Connector.
Pie Night - which was
held Tuesday, May 20th was
very successful. The next Pie
Night will not be held until
September, so we will see
you then. If you want a
piece of pie in the meantime,
I guess you will have to bake
one for yourself.
The Mothers Day Tea
And Bake Sale was truly a
great success. Thank you to
all the people who donated
baking and volunteered at
the event. A lot of friends
met at the North Shore
Community Centre for tea
and catching up on family
news.
Our Seniors Dinner held
on Mothers Day, May 15th
was sold out, and there was a
great interest and lots of
action around the Silent
Auction Table. There was
pretty heavy bidding on
some of the items.

Fundraiser Dinner - will be
held on Monday, June 23rd
at 5:00 pm. Be sure to get
your tickets early as these
dinners always sell out
quickly, and you do not want
to miss out on such a great
dinner and friendship
evening. Frieda will be back
playing her accordion.
Flea Market day will be
Saturday, June 14th from
8:00am to 12:00 noon. Set
up time will start at 7:00am.

have been very busy, but
summer is here and they will
be reduced. We have an
additional person coming on
board to assist you with
computer knowledge, and
her name is Karen Bell.

training volunteers will contact
you to discuss course
availability. I believe that
there are some exciting
things coming up in this service,
so we will let you know
all about them when we
know all the details. Stay
tuned in to this “station” in
the Senior Connector and we
will keep you informed!
Our Silent Auctions do
quite well at our suppers, so
we are always in need of real
fine items for the auction. If
you have any items that you
wish to donate, please bring
them to our Hostess in the
Maple Room. Thank you for
thinking of us for your donations.
Not only do we need your
donations of auction items,
we also need your ideas on
new games or events that we
can plan for next September
start-up. Having fun and
great friendships certainly
builds a great community
spirit, and it helps keep us
“young at heart”.
We are all extremely
proud of the wonderful landscaping
surrounding our
North Shore Community
Centre and the Cottonwood
Manor. These grounds are
so beautiful because we have
such generous people living
in the complex, who donate
money to buy flowers and
shrubs each year. Then, on
top of that, they get out to
help plant and feed the flowers.
What special people
they all are! Of course they
get hungry and tired doing
this job, so Margaret Reed
revives them all with a great
lunch, Thank You Margaret!
Our whole complex looks
fantastic and when the flowers
and shrubs are fully
grown we know it will make
a perfect picture for us all to
enjoy.
