2013 <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong> Pageant<br />

Diamond State <strong>Princess</strong>/Prince<br />

Parents,<br />

Thank you so much for your interest in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong> pageant and for<br />

allowing your child to participate in <strong>the</strong> Diamond State <strong>Princess</strong>/Prince Program.<br />

We are excited about <strong>the</strong> <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong> pageant and all <strong>the</strong> activities we have<br />

planned. We will need your help and support during pageant week. Below is a<br />

schedule for <strong>the</strong> week. (Please understand that things can change, we are not only<br />

working on <strong>the</strong> princess schedule, we are also working with <strong>the</strong> pageant schedule,<br />

photographers schedule, <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong>’ schedule, etc.).<br />

We are doing a few things different this year, hopefully to make it easier on <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Princess</strong>/prince and on <strong>the</strong> parents. On Sunday, July 14 th we will have arrival only.<br />

We will not have <strong>the</strong> party on Sunday nor will we have dance practice at that<br />

time. We will be getting you <strong>the</strong> dance videos several weeks before <strong>the</strong> <strong>Miss</strong><br />

<strong>Arkansas</strong> pageant for you and your princess/prince to practice.<br />

We will be having a <strong>Princess</strong>/Prince/<strong>Miss</strong> “Paint <strong>the</strong> Crown Party” on Friday, July<br />

19 th , at 12:00. This will be a time for your child to get to know his/her <strong>Miss</strong><br />

Contestant better and put <strong>the</strong>ir artistic abilities to <strong>the</strong> test. See below schedule<br />

for more details.<br />

We are also asking that <strong>the</strong> princess/prince make a poster showing support of<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir <strong>Miss</strong> contestant to hang in Summit arena. We are asking that you bring<br />

those posters with you at arrival on Sunday, July 14 th . We will <strong>the</strong>n hang your<br />

poster around <strong>the</strong> Arena for <strong>the</strong> girls to see all week.<br />

We also wanted to make you aware that <strong>the</strong> princesses/prince will be dancing<br />

each preliminary night in a trendy outfit (depending on which evening <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

miss has evening wear). They will be dancing to “One and <strong>the</strong> Same by Selina<br />

Gomez and Demi Lovato. They will be dancing on Saturday with <strong>Miss</strong><br />

<strong>Arkansas</strong> Sloane Roberts to “Gold” by Britt Nicole if your child doesn’t know<br />

<strong>the</strong> music or words, now would be a good time to down load it off of I tunes.


****The <strong>Princess</strong>es will be participating in a community service project again this<br />

year during <strong>the</strong> week to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network. The<br />

<strong>Princess</strong>es will be presenting a check to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong> pageant during <strong>the</strong><br />

pageant on Saturday evening. We will be collecting money at <strong>the</strong> doors before <strong>the</strong><br />

pageant begins and <strong>the</strong>n again at intermission. We will be needing<br />

princess/prince and parent volunteers to help with this.<br />

Below is a list of groups to help you know which night your princess/prince will<br />

be on stage. Please follow us on facebook and we will try to update any new<br />

have dances posted in a video, but we will let you know by ei<strong>the</strong>r email or on<br />

facebook.<br />

The hotel links for area Hot Springs hotels and deals can be found on <strong>the</strong> <strong>Miss</strong><br />

<strong>Arkansas</strong> website and will be posted in <strong>the</strong> DSP Class group. I hope all <strong>the</strong><br />

necessary information is provided. We want this to be a fun and exciting<br />

experience for your daughter/son and yourself. If you have any questions or<br />

Working <strong>Schedule</strong><br />

Sunday, July 14<br />

12:40 p.m. Check In Room 202<br />

1:00 <strong>Princess</strong>/Prince Crowning and meeting<br />

Hot Springs Convention and Civic Center<br />

Room 202<br />

Wear your Sunday best! Please be prompt. Also bring your <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong><br />

contestant poster to show support for your winner!!<br />

<strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince will be presented <strong>the</strong>ir crowns by <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong>’ <strong>Princess</strong>, Ava<br />

Ellison; Mistress of Ceremony will be <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong> Sloane Roberts.<br />

We will have a brief meeting, answer questions, and pass out tickets, etc.<br />

2:00 p.m. Arrival of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong> Contestants<br />

Grand Lobby of Horner Hall<br />

<strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince will be seated next to <strong>the</strong> stairs in order of title. <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong><br />

contestant will proceed down <strong>the</strong> Grand Lobby stairs and will <strong>the</strong>n be greeted by<br />

her <strong>Princess</strong>/Prince at <strong>the</strong> center table. <strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince will present <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

mentor with a flower, pose for pictures, and proceed down <strong>the</strong> center aisle. <strong>Miss</strong><br />

and <strong>Princess</strong>/Prince will go up <strong>the</strong> back stairs and line up for group pictures.<br />

***Parents and guests: please remain seated until all <strong>the</strong> <strong>Miss</strong> contestants and<br />

<strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince have been introduced and Mr. Danny, <strong>the</strong> official <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong><br />

photographer, has finished taking <strong>the</strong> group pictures. Group pictures will be<br />

taken on <strong>the</strong> Grand Lobby staircase. No one but Contestants and<br />

<strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince will be allowed upstairs.<br />

3:30 p.m. Rehearsal of production numbers<br />

(This time is approximate and depends on what time we are<br />

finished with Arrival and photographs.)<br />

Austin Hotel, Mezzanine Level


Wednesday, July 17 th<br />

10:00 a.m. GROUP B Evening Gown & dance rehearsal<br />

Summit Arena (Wear your provided t-shirt, we will announce on Sunday as<br />

to which t-shirt will be worn on which day.)<br />

***Please be on time for all rehearsals. Production does not stop if you are<br />

late. It is a good idea to bring <strong>the</strong> shoes your <strong>Princess</strong>/Prince will be wearing<br />

to practice walking on <strong>the</strong> stage. Mr. Danny will be taking more photographs.<br />

<strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince: Be sure to look for Mr. Danny at <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> point and<br />

SMILE!<br />

7:15 p.m. Please be completely dressed in your trendy outfit, ready to go on<br />

stage, and in your seat! As soon as your dance is over, you will be able to<br />

change into your white gown or tuxedo.<br />

Group B competing in Evening Gown (wear white gown or tuxedo)<br />

At Intermission, Group B <strong>Princess</strong>es will be taken backstage by a<br />

committee member to line up for Evening Gown. **Sorry, no one is<br />

allowed backstage without a special badge. After all of <strong>the</strong> Evening<br />

Gown competition is over, <strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince will return to <strong>the</strong>ir seats to<br />

enjoy <strong>the</strong> Preliminary awards.<br />

Everyone is invited to Visitation in Hall D following <strong>the</strong> Preliminary competition each<br />

night. There will be a sign on each table with <strong>the</strong> contestant’s title. It is customary, but not<br />

required, to bring some small gift of support to your contestant. This is a timed<br />

visitation each night and lasts around 10 minutes.<br />

Thursday, July 18 th<br />

10:00 a.m. GROUP C Evening Gown & dance rehearsal<br />

Summit Arena (wear your provided t-shirt)<br />

11:30 a.m. Luncheon & Paint <strong>the</strong> Crown party!<br />

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (Parents are asked to drop off<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir princess/prince in <strong>the</strong> lobby of <strong>the</strong> Austin hotel and<br />

we will walk toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong>ir miss contestant.


Wear your sponsored t-shirt! Also bring one of dad’s old t-shirts to wear while<br />

painting. We will get to know each o<strong>the</strong>r a little better. We will enjoy special<br />

treats and paint a crown picture with your <strong>Miss</strong> Queen. Special guest will be<br />

<strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong>, Sloane Roberts & <strong>the</strong> new <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong>’ Outstanding Teen. Mr.<br />

Danny will again be on hand for lots of photos. Wear your best smile!<br />

1:30-2:00 p.m. Parents are invited to meet back at <strong>the</strong> Austin Lobby for a Gallery<br />

Walk and picture time with <strong>the</strong>ir princess/prince and <strong>Miss</strong> Contestant.<br />

7:15 p.m. Please be completely dressed in your trendy outfit, ready to go on<br />

stage, and in your seat! As soon as your dance is over, you will be able to<br />

change into your white gown or tuxedo.<br />

shirt). Bring all t-shirts to practice on this day to have pictures made<br />

for <strong>the</strong> t-shirt sponsor.<br />

12:45 p.m. Report for Autograph Party at Hot Springs Mall<br />

***Wear provided t-shirt***<br />

<strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince will have <strong>the</strong>ir own table for <strong>the</strong> Autograph party.<br />

Please be early for this. <strong>Princess</strong>/Prince will line up with her queen<br />

and be introduced, <strong>the</strong>n proceed to her place at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Princess</strong>/Prince<br />

table.


***You may choose to have photograph pads made for <strong>the</strong> Autograph party.<br />

This is not required. You can contact Wheeler printing in Hot Springs at<br />

501-624-5333; <strong>the</strong>y will have your picture on file and can make you an<br />

autograph pad.<br />

5:45 p.m. <strong>Princess</strong>/Prince group formal dress (white gown or tuxedo)<br />

pictures<br />

Summit Arena Staircase (where <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong>’ new car is parked)<br />

6:15 p.m. ALL PRINCESSES/PRINCE: Please be completely dressed in your<br />

best trendy wear, ready to go on stage, and in your seat!<br />

Tonight, <strong>the</strong> top 10 will be announced so everyone must be stage ready!<br />

The princesses/prince will be performing <strong>the</strong>ir production before<br />

intermission. As soon as <strong>the</strong> <strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince finishes <strong>the</strong>ir production<br />

in <strong>the</strong>ir trendy outfit, <strong>the</strong> “top 10” <strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince will <strong>the</strong>n change<br />

into <strong>the</strong>ir gowns/tuxedo.<br />

*** After all of <strong>the</strong> Evening Gown competition is over,<br />

<strong>Princess</strong>es/Prince will return to <strong>the</strong>ir seats to enjoy <strong>the</strong> final night<br />

awards and crowning of <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong> 2013.<br />

***If your <strong>Miss</strong> is announced as <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong> 2013, please proceed to<br />

<strong>the</strong> stairs at <strong>the</strong> point of <strong>the</strong> stage. DO NOT GO UP THE STAIRS.<br />

Please listen for Mr. Danny to call for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Princess</strong> or Prince to come for<br />

pictures with <strong>the</strong> new <strong>Miss</strong> <strong>Arkansas</strong>.
