Publishing Educational Research: Guidelines and Tips

Review the "To the author" section carefully.
How is the research in each article presented
What patterns are prevalent
Are there statistics and graphs
Review guidelines for the length of articles, readership, type of writing, type
of references, and policies for accepting manuscripts. It's okay to go a little over
the word limit rather than to leave out a key point or issue; but stay close to the
limit.
Is there a cost to the author For example, if you want a table or graph
reproduced in color, is it at a cost to you
Think about the reputation of the journal, the lag time
from receipt of the manuscript to publication, and whether
or not the journal uses the peer-review process to judge
manuscripts.
Peruse journal web sites for useful information. Often
the editorial board is listed, submission guidelines
provided, email addresses given, and the focus of
previous issues summarized.
