Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, week after week you gather us to this place
of worship and invite us to enter your presence with singing
and joy. In the words of Isaiah, we often honor you with
our lips while our hearts remain far from you. Confusing
worship with entertainment, we are passive observers rather
than thoughtful participants. Forgive us for our distant
hearts and our preoccupied minds. Help us to worship you
in spirit and truth, with mind and heart. We worship you
even now, giving thanks for your mercy and love as we
continue our confession in silence…
