have few environmental impacts, operation of the new gas-fired plant would result in increased<br />

emissions and environmental impacts. The environmental impacts associated with power<br />

purchased from other generators would still occur but would be located elsewhere within the<br />

region or nation, as discussed in Section 8.2.5. The impacts of purchased power are not shown<br />

in Table 8-7. The staff concludes that it is very unlikely that the environmental impacts of any<br />

reasonable combination of generating and conservation options could be reduced to the level of<br />

impacts associated with renewal of the Monticello OL.<br />
