SOUTHERN REGION
NEW FACES IN GLADSTONE
This month we welcome two new members
to the Gladstone Team. Avril Watson has
joined as the Specialist Care Placement
Support Worker and Karen Masters in the
Administration Assistant role for the Foster
Kinship & Specialist Care programs. As an
introduction, both ladies gives us a little
insight into who they are.
Hi, my name is Avril Watson.
I have recently joined the team at ACQ
as a Specialist Care Placement Support
Worker.
I have worked with children and their
families for 16 years and enjoy all
aspects of my new position.
The training that is provided by
Anglicare will involve travelling to
Brisbane which I am looking forward to;
The best advice I have ever been given
is from my mum “Never give up”
I switch off from work by going home to
my family, horses, dogs, cats, chooks
and simply enjoying country life. I enjoy
horseriding and attend the Calliope
ponyclub as a riding member. At
present I am studing for my Instructors
Certificate.
Hi, my name is Karen Masters
I commenced one day before Avril as the
Administration Assistant with the FKSC
Program.
Success to me is achieving your goals
and loving what you do. Always have
goals to work towards and the only way
to achieve them is to....
“Never give Up”
My first career break started through
volunteering and I enjoy learning new skills
and being creative.
The best advice given to me was “better to
ask than assume”
I switch off from work by reading and am
inspired by positive, happy people.
In 5 years time, I see myself still learning
and keeping up with technology.
I define success as balancing my own
personal life with work and achieve it
through having a wonderful husband and
great kids.
