Foster, Kinship and
Specialist Care Programs
Rockhampton Foster, Kinship and Specialist Care
Programs have been celebrating more birthdays this
month with Kathy having a significant birthday and like
Wendy last month, came in to see her office had been
transformed into a birthday wonderland.
Congratulations to Irmi on completing her Diploma of
Child, Youth and Family Intervention. We are very proud
of Irmi. Irmi came into the program about five years ago
with limited theory of human services but plenty of
compassion for children, young people and families with
added personal knowledge of the Foster Care system
having been a carer for many years previously. Irmi has
used that compassion to drive her to learn and
understand the complexities of this work. As English is
her second language Irmi had this additional challenge
to overcome, however has managed to do this as well.
For all the long hours and hair pulling and remembering
to „breathe‟, Irmi has done it. Well Done Irmi. Irmi is off
on a very well deserved holiday to Switzerland next
week so have a wonderful time our friend but remember
to come back.
For the rest of the team, we will continue to prepare for
our final audit later in the month of June. This will give us
the opportunity to refine our knowledge, skills and
documentation of Specialist Care processes and Incident
reporting. The team‟s commitment and positive approach
to this process has been evident. We wish them all the
best for their upcoming audit.
