Ormoc City has done it again!

For the fourth time in the row
vegetable producers in Ormoc City bag
the most outstanding vegetable farmer
award conducted by Visayas State
University. Mr. Amelito C. Aragon,
from Brgy. Curva this city, astonished
the group of evaluators from VSU
chaired by Prof. Efren B. Saz with
his method of producing vegetable
using organic fertilizer (vermin
cast) and other cultural management
which is environment friendly and
economically sound. His organized
and complete farm records help him
come up a sound farm management.
It is in this that Mr. Aragon outscored
other contender. The finalists of this
category were Mr. Dante Nasario and
Fidel Cabale of Brgy. Cabintan and
Bagong respectively. The three are
members of the Ormoc Federation of
Vegeable Producers, Inc.
On the other hand, the search
for the Outstanding Farmer-
Entrepreneur was won by Mr. Juan
Gilbert E. Vertulfo, closely trailed
by our own Brgy. Valencia Chairman
Hon. Alfredo Roble. The awarding
ceremony was held at the Convention
The Four (4) days surgery and
operation conducted by Operation
Smile Foundation at the Ormoc District
Hospital was very successful as they
were able to operate 48 children with
cleft lip and cleft palate with eight
other patients being assessed for a
substitute palate for a total of 56.
The four day operation and
surgery was a joint project of the
Operation Smile Foundation, the
Local Government Unit headed by
Mayor Eric C. Codilla and Vice Mayor
Nepomuceno P. Aparis, St. Stephens
Mission Outreach Foundation, Ormoc
District Hospital and Operation Smile
Foundation.

56 children benefits from “Operation Smile”
Before operation

Smile Foundation. She added that
they are accepting patients not only
from Ormoc City but anybody whose
children has cleft lip and cleft palate
problem.

office in 2004 and he was so thankful
that it happened before his term ended.
