SCALA, the OSYs stepping stone
People may think SCALA
(Sharing Computer Access Locally
and Abroad) program is just a
small thing in education, an out-ofschool-youth
(OSY) said when she
delivered her impression about it
during their graduation rites in the
multi-purpose hall of the City Hall
last Aug. 17.
But for her, she treasured it in
her heart as she shall walk through
for another training of her life, the
voice of SCALA graduate Leslie V.
Loayon slightly quivered during her
speech. She said the encouraging
quote that struck to her mind is the
saying that goes “If you will not
send for something, you will fall
for nothing” as she goes along with
to finish the SCALA, the informal
vocational program of the City
Social Welfare and Development
Office (SCWDO). Loayon nearly
20, said that the program is such a
great help for the OSYs.
“If I’ll be given an opportunity
to continue my studies, this might be
the only wealth that cannot be stolen
from me and all of us,” she claimed.
Make good of every chances, she
urges her 21 fellow graduates of
SCALA batch 22 and 23. The
program also gave her some values
of life and camaraderie among the
graduates, she said.
City Councilor Felomino
Maglasang also reminded them
during his speech to become
competitive and have upright
attitude for they will land a
job someday. “Capitalize your
computer skills you have for you
are not the same persons 6 months
ago,” he said.
Also, Mayor Eric “Beboy”
C. Codilla congratulates them
that their success may become a
‘turning point’ in their life. CSWD
Officer Marietta Legaspi assisted
the mayor during the awarding of
certificates and medals. Among
those who witnessed this occasion
included Social Welfare Officer IV
and SCALA Center Head Imelda
M. Dadulla and trainer Vernie L.
Senefrota.
