Tugob Queen A portrait of simplicity By Joey C. Motel Her glamour and grace have enamored a thousand Ormocanon hearts. Her balance of beauty, wit, brains and simplicity has catapulted her to successes in every beauty search she joined. On the inaugural Tugob Festival, she lived up to expectations as the favorite, running away with special awards aplenty on her way to being crowned as the first ever Tugob Festival Queen. Almost a hundred days after, when Central Visayas paid homage to Her Majesty she marched with the Tugob Tribu Ormocanon during the historic participation of Ormoc to the Sinulog Festival in Cebu City. Denesse Ann Rebadomia became a household name with her ascension to the Tugob Festival throne. The lanky lass became a model of exquisiteness, charm and persona. Her answer to the festival’s final question got the unanimous nod, not just of the judges, but of the organizers, sponsors and the hundreds who witnessed her coronation. Her beauty was a magnet for cameras, video and overall attention during the Sinulog Mardi Gras in Cebu City. Everybody wants a piece of Denesse, young ladies secretly admire her, even those from afar have searched for internet files just to understand the buzz that she has created. Everybody wants to get to know her. Yet, only a few really knows the queen’s story. Denesse Ann is the second of three children to Ardes and Cora Rebadomia. A Special Science Class mainstay, the incoming high-school senior at New Ormoc City National High School is also Ormoc’s ace in dance sports to the Division Meet and the EVRAA aside from being the resident editorial cartoonist of the school paper. She started her elementary years in Mahonri Academy in Dasmariñas, Cavite, spent Grades 2 to 5 in Ormoc City Central School before earning valedictorian honors in Tayud Elementary School, Tayud, Lilo-an Cebu. And who would not have noticed when she was among the grand finalists of the Search for Eat Bulaga Little Miss Philippines some ten years ago. Born to a business-oriented family, Denesse Ann spends her free time helping in the family business of retailing dried fish in the public market. Yes! The beauty queen is simple – no reservations, no pretensions. She took charge of business to relieve her parents, especially during summer vacation, breaks, weekends and those days when examinations and scheduled commitments allow her. She values her family and studies above all. Despite her status as a local celebrity, Denesse doesn’t have any reservations about being in the public market; instead she uses her influence to inspire the youth to be humble despite achievements that may come their way. “For me, the crown must not be worn in the head but in the heart,” Denesse shared. She also wants the youth to be proud of whatever work their parents have since they are the ones who feed and bring them up. When asked if she plans to join the Bb. Ormoc pageant, the Tugob Queen gracefully says she does not. She shares that her schedule from the Tugob Festival to the Division Meet, Sinulog and the EVRAA keep her occupied for almost three months and has greatly affected her academics. She said she will give ample time to her studies now that she is a senior and hopes to be part of the cream of the crop once more. Denesse also shares her plans for college, choosing and considering between the likes of Chemistry, Mass Communications and Accountancy and prioritizes studying just within the locality to be near to her family. The Tugob Queen deserves the crown she get on coronation night, but the less glamorous crown she wears in her everyday living deserves more applause and cheers. A picture of simplicity and exquisiteness and a model of modesty, Her Majesty shows the nature of a true Ormocanon. Dalaygon ka Denesse Ann!
