ANDREA KOMLOSY studied history and political science <strong>in</strong> Vienna. Her<br />
dissertation (1984) was devoted to <strong>the</strong> economic and social history of a Lower Austria<br />
region, <strong>the</strong> Waldviertel, analys<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> reasons for its peripheralization. Komlosy’s<br />
habilitation (2001) dealt with migration and <strong>the</strong> s<strong>in</strong>gle market formation <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Habsburg Monarchy, look<strong>in</strong>g at <strong>in</strong>ternal borders, which dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> 18th and 19th<br />
centuries were abolished for <strong>the</strong> transport of goods, but established to control <strong>the</strong><br />
mobility of people. Komlosy is professor at <strong>the</strong> Institute for Economic and Social<br />
History, University of Vienna. She has published on problems of uneven development<br />
on a regional, European and global scale.<br />

ALDO MILOHNIĆ has an MA <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> sociology of culture and is a researcher at<br />
<strong>the</strong> Peace Institute Ljubljana – Institute for Contemporary Social and Political Studies<br />
where he works on research projects <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> fields of sociology of culture and cultural<br />
policy. He is editor of <strong>the</strong> Politike book series, author and co-author of several books<br />
(most recently Theories of Contemporary Theatre and Performance) and co-editor of<br />
numerous special issues of cultural journals.<br />

BRANKICA PETKOVIĆ has an MA <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> sociology of culture and is a<br />
researcher and project manager at <strong>the</strong> Peace Institute Ljubljana – Institute for<br />
Contemporary Social and Political Studies. She is also editor of <strong>the</strong> Media Watch<br />
book series and Media Watch journal. Her work is focused on research, advocacy<br />
and publish<strong>in</strong>g activities <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> field of media accountability, communication rights<br />
of citizens and m<strong>in</strong>ority groups, and media pluralism. She is author of a number of<br />
articles and reports, and co-author of books on <strong>the</strong> above-mentioned topics.<br />
