San Diego Fair
SDWT Booth Update
The San Diego Fair is just
around the corner, June 8 th
through July 4 th . I thought it was
about time to give a heads up on
what you as a volunteer turner
needs to know.
You will need to bring your turning
tools and personal protective
equipment. Now remember we
will be turning small objects
such as tops, pens, egg cups,
bottle stoppers, boxes and small
bowls. Your whole arsenal of
weapons will not be needed.
The fair has asked us to keep
the sanding to a minimum. All
finishes and child safe felt pens
will be provided. Two inch hard
maple stock will be available.
Wear your protective equipment
at all times while you are turning.
We are there to ask for donations
for Toys for Tots and Turn
Around for Veterans. So no personal
projects. Arrive about 30
minutes early, just to get things
ready. At the end of the day one
of the volunteers will count the
donations and take all but $20.00
(leave the 20.00 in small bills
for the next day) home and then
write a check to SDWT and mail
it to P.O. Box 23093, Encinitas,
CA 92023. We will try to have
pre addressed envelopes at the
back of the booth for you to use.
Write the date you volunteered
& collected the donations on the
check.
The parking passes and fair tickets
should arrive in mid May. If
for some reason you can’t make
your time give as much notice as
possible and try to find a replacement.
Get your fair passes
and parking passes to me so that
I can give it to your replacement.
Your green lot parking pass is
good at the Solana (back gate)
gate of the fair only. If for some
reason you have to park at the
horse park which is due east of
the fair about 3 miles a shuttle
will bring you to the Solana
gate. Go to the left as you face
the gate and there will be a golf
cart with a driver to take you in
the fair and to Design In Wood.
Our booth is inside the door on
the right. There will be a volunteer
list on the counter in the
back of our booth. Please call
the next day’s volunteers and
remind them of their time slot.

setup o the 20 th of May and the
5 th of July for take down. Give
